Thought you folks might like to see some pics of some Cane arrows that Art Butner of WV made for me. Trust me, these are works of "Art", no pun intended (well maybe a little ). I am so pleased with these fifteen arrows. I have made Cane arrows and love the way Canes shoot and hold up, but Art's put mine to shame in all aspects. Bless your heart, Art, and your skill and patience.

Wow Bernie they realy look nice.
Jack
Four are "Hunters" with tied on fletching and extra footing, and three of those are headed with his own handmade Trade BHs also.

These arrows are "Spot Seeking" buggers, as long as I do my part properly. They make me want to be better - :D
WOW is Right. Like Jack said Congrats  :clapper:
And while I'm at it here are some new Arrow racks I have just started using. they are old, stackable, plastic thingies that we used to use for other storage purposes, and don't need for that anymore. They work great and hold pleanty, as you can even put two arrows in a hole without crowding the fletches. Also on the front (whitch is now the back) they slant outward and have rectangular slots which are just right for arrows with broadheads. I made that the back to keep me from sticking my foot under there and slicing off a toe or two  .

WOW I bow to Art's incredible talents as an arrowsmith. :notworthy: :notworthy:
Simply stunning.
Lookin good there Bernie. I like the arrow rack idea to.
WOW!!!you lucky bugger bernie. thems awesome. :archer: wolfman
Man! Those are awesome! They're almost too purty to shoot, but bein made from cane I know they can take some abuse too.
WOW!! Those are some of the best looking arrows I've ever seen
Man that kind of craftsmanship is unreal! too cool.
Yes I would be afraid to shoot them! at least for a second or two.
J
You ever hang around Flatwoods? David Camps archery?
Very nice!!
Beautiful!!!
OUTSTANDING
very nice.
cool! theres nothing like "natures carbon"
Sweeet! What are you gonna hunt with them Bernie? :archer:
Man, my hat's off to Art. Those are gorgeous. Gotta be some serious mojo in cane.
Thank you all (for me and Art) and I agree with what all of you have said. I could not say enough about Cane arrows to begin with - and Art's are above and beyond. (BTW mine are in the rack on the left right behind his - trying to soak up a little class - :D ) I hope to hunt Deer with them at least, at some point during this season.
Yep, I used to work at Dave Camp's Archery, part-time for about 4 years, and still go in and out of there to visit him.
Fantastic arrows Bernie, definetly works of art.
Oh man, what that Art doesn't know about making primitive arrows...just ain't worth knowing...
Ya got that right! :jumper: "Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep!"
Do you know if he only ties the fletchings on, or does he use just a tad bit of glue to hold them steady while rapping? They look really nice.
Those are some fantastic arrows Bernie. I was talking with Art a while back and getting his advice on making cane arrows and he sent me a little sneak peak of the arrows he made up for you. I knew you would really like them. He gave me one of his art pieces at ATAR and it is beautiful. Too nice for me to shoot! Art really knows how to make some fantastic archery gear. And he's helped me out a bunch learning about bow building. He's top notch.
Aaron
Cool arrows. Does Art have a website?
Awesome arrows Bernie! I like your storage idea also.
Not sure if he uses a little glue or if he just wraps at the front and/or back first. as some do. I don't think Art has a website. Perhaps he or Pat B will come along and say for sure. Yep he helps a lot of folks in that way. I haven't had a chance to really eyeball or try his bows yet - a pleasure I look forward to.
Here is a couple close ups of the Trade Points:

and here is a close up of the little symbol that Art puts on most everything he hand makes. Those who are blessed with something he made, have probably seen it. He calls it "Stalking Man" and it adds a nice touch of primitive (and art). The bowman is kneeling and there are three little birds above the buck - neat, huh??? His nephew even copied it onto the back of his uncle's favorite cap for him:

Art made a set for me and my friend Kenneth that invited me out to Colorado to elk hunt last year. He makes arrows "for hunting, not display". His trade points are increadable also. He cuts each one out with a hack saw and has one of the most unique(and secure) ways of mounting a trade point that I have seen. Pat
Very nice arrows, I am jealous!!!
Truly awesome.
Now that's one set of cane arrows I really enjoyed making up. Just a small measure of appreciation for all the hard work Bernie puts in for our kids at ATAR each year. Thank you Bernie!
Some cool arrow racks also!
And thanks to everybody else for their kind words.
ART B
Art, if you'd be interested, I'm sure people would love a step by step of your process of turning a cane stalk into a work of art hunting arrow and it would make a splendid addition to the how-to's here on Tradgang.
Oh Yeah!! Ferret has Nailed It Once More!! I Would Love to See a "How To" for these Awsome Arrows!! :notworthy: :notworthy: :archer:
Art,
Those are some awesome arrows and the trade points look deadly.
Also, I noticed a couple of those arrows would go great with Bernies cheerleading outfit. :biglaugh:
Walt Francis
Yer jist a reglar eagle-eye fashion horse, Walt :biglaugh:
Thanks for the fine arrows and the oh so kind comments, Art.
Man, those are sweet! I really like those heads. What kind of arrow weight do they finish out at?
Adam, the 11 field tipped ones are from 475 to 489. The 3 BH tipped and one other done like them but with a field tip, are heavier - from 566 to 588 (the field tipped one is 591 - the heaviest)
WOW !! Now that's superior craftsmanship. Gettem' bloody Bernie....
Gonna do my best, Chuck - was out doing some scouting and site picking with my Marine friend, John Nolan yesterday - with that very thing in mind - LOL.
Cool stuff Bernie, thanks for posting pics of those.
That fishing hat you got hanging there is pretty sweet too, lol.
Those are just beautiful!!!
New Guy, Thanks. That hat (that I hadn't noticed showed in the pic - )was "presented" to me by my neighbor's wife, about six years ago, after I fell over the side of her husband's boat one day while we were fishing - she's a smart aleck :biglaugh:
(The top of the hat is a pair of men's jockey shorts, if you've never seen one of the hats.)
Those arrows are beautiful.
