....Finding a MONSTER buck, getting him pattered then finding out the zone he's in has been closed to bucks. At least 160" deer, 6" of antler outside his ears, at least 5x6 with most tines over 10."
Only zone on base that is still open for buck is Quanah range and I know diddly squat about it. That said, Quanah has tons of 160"s+ on it IF you can get in there and around the bombing.
How about finding a big buck, asking for permission, getting told I need to make sure the wife didn't let a rifle hunter in. 2 weeks later you didn't hear back and shoot a nice buck on public but not near the one ya found on private, getting home with him and 2 days later the rancher gets back to ya saying sorry he was out of town and forgot but of course you can hunt, go get him!
And so it begins!
Dont dwell on what you cant go after, be excited at using your skills in a new uncharted area.
Cant wait to see you with a 160+ in a little while from now!
Yes that's dissapointing. But maybe one door closed so another can be opened. May be a buck in the other unit making that one look small! Keep you head up and leave that hurdle in the dust! Keep moving forward season ain't over!
Life sometimes sucks live with it,move on and find another.
I just knew the answer was cold eggs fo breakfast!
Gonna try and take some time to learn the other range. Lots of deer over there and not as many hunters.
Yes, that stinks!..... but hang in there!
atleast he is still alive.....

Unlike Kens backyard 160"er
I'm hoping he makes it through the winter. Lots of coyotes and should he stray a bit too far it's possible to end up on wrong end of a 155mm shell or wild fire.
There are some deer on Post that make MCAPP look like midgets.
That does suck!
Look on the bright side, if the zone is closed to bucks, he might be there next year, even bigger!
