Here's what i have: big jim TC 50@30" i draw 29.5" shooting CX Heritage 250 full length 32.75" with 250gr up front. 18.6% FOC 628gr total arrow weight. This setup bareshafts perfect. I am pretty accurate with it out to 30yds then it drops off pretty fast. I chronographed it at 141fps average. What do you think of my setup?
PS: I started out with CX Heritage 150 31.25" with 125gr up front 9.5gpp. I didn't care for this arrow setup because I was having to aim so far below the target to hit where i wanted to at 20yds.
If your accurate out to 30 yds I'd stay with them.
i dont think i would shoot anything past 25yds because the animal would be gone before the arrow got there.
I don't know....sounds perfect to me! That's what I shoot [625 gr] from a 46# bow!
If the arrows are flying fine, sounds good. I personally dont like shooting over 20+ yards anyway, no matter what my arrow speed. Too much can happen at longer distances for me.
That arrow should hit them like a scud missile.
There is no rule about too heavy or not heavy enough. If they tune well and you can shoot them well, then they are great for you!

I was shooting a similar setup last year, 645g arrow out of a 51 @ 29.5 Shrew. It wasnt very quick, but it sure shot great...bow sure was quiet!
Nothing wrong with it at all, you will get used to the tradjectory.
I wish CX still made the Terminator or Rebel, a 10 gpi .400 spine, they are the perfect shaft for me it seems like. Something between a 150 & 250 would be great.
Eric
Should get some great penetration.
I think i will great penetration out of this setup. It would be nice if they made a CX Heritage 200 lol
Isnt the general idea somewhere about 10gr per pound?
Considering the length of the arrow and the bow weight that probably provides enough flex in the arrow. Would you get the same energy out of a lighter setup but raise the fps enough to flatten the trajectory?
Sounds like a great set up to me. I'm shooting a 640 gn fir arrow out of my 51# bow-very pleased with the results on pigs and elk. My son is getting the same results too too- more bow weight, 55#@29" and the same Fir arrow. :archer2:
That is a great arrow, and since it shoots well out of your bow, it will be perfect for what you want.

I like a heavy arrow. You can almost put the arrow on the target at 20yds instead of aiming low. Plus you bow is quieter. And they punch hard!
I shoot 700 grains off a 49# bow and love the results.
I shoot 53@30 and get 180 with 620gr would think u should be a little quicker
I think your arrow setup sounds great, your getting the most efficiency from your setup, which I know would take down more than just deer. Its where you put that arrow that counts.

Im not sure why its so slow. Could be my chrono?
I'm launching 630gr Griz Sticks from a 55lb@28" bow, sounds fine.

I suspect it really is going faster than that.I think chronos can vary and evidently different lighting can affect readings. When I did a lot of testing with one,I was surprised how little difference there was bow to bow.Your setup is good.
elk whisperer A long draw makes a huge differance
Sounds like a great set up to me!
Pretty heavy for me, but it ain't my bow!
If you're hitting what you're aiming at, no need to q
Pretty heavy for my tastes, but then it ain't my bow!
If you're hitting what you aim at, no need to question. You got it right.
I shoot about 700 grains out of a 48# bow at a 31" draw. They shoot great. I haven't shot any deer with this setup, but it's not the arrow's fault!
Something Is wrong with your numbers. With 29,5" draw you should get in the 155 fps
