Title: Oldie but goodie
Post by: Brianlocal3 on November 17, 2012, 03:43:00 PM
I decided to shoot the old Ben Pearson Colt today. its 60' 32@26. I have some 27' #3 Fiberglass arrows for it. 75 gr heads.  Man this little thing shoots great.  I forgot how fun it is to pull out the light weight every so often. Stacking arrows in at 20 and 25 yrds like no bodes business.  I could shoot it for a week straight and never get tired.  It brings out the kid in me again just plinking at stuff.

Its funny how the hybrid design is so popular today when this little guy, even thought it was marketed as a semi-curve, looks IDENTICAL to todays hybrids.  They were on to something back then , and I think if they would have had a better marketing staff they would have been better sellers and the design would have take off sooner than it did.

With that said I still prefer my straight end bows, but its fun to pull out sometimes.

Nothing like pulling down the old classics and loosing a few arrows, not only is it fun, but the performance of those old bows is quite impressive.
Theres still a lot of them out there still gettin done.

I had a Ben Pearson Colt I used for my bunny bow.  (Slamming wood arrows into frozen ground and saplings can be hard on them - a lighter bow works better).  I ended up shipping mine off to the West Coast and it is now converting a young law enforcement officer into a traditional bowhunter.    :archer:

Good, solid bows and the Colts are sweet shooters.

They are for sure. Your Colt is totally different than mine. Thats odd how they will name the same name but a different bow all together.  mine has a LB riser, with a mild locator. and the limbs are like that of an OMEGA longbow.

You're right, Brian, but look at Bear bows- Grizzlies/Kodiaks from '51-'72-so many lengths and shapes.
