It all fell into place about 0900 on 11/5 .I had gotten a late start and ran a few deer out going to my stand. After getting settled I seen a doe come through early and then a small spike came through. I decided to film that little spike, little did I know that would add some fun to the day. About 0900 that bruiser came up the point towards me. When he passed by some trees I was able to stand and get my bow. I had an open window ,about a 27 yd shot, through the brush and as I released he must of seen me and started to spin away. I watched him run about 40 yds and slow to a walk. At this point I still wasn't
100% that I hit him with all the movement I lost track of my arrow. I waited about 10 minutes and got down to look for my arrow and I found blood instead....
I then went back to camp, not sure exactly where I hit the buck. I planned on waiting an hour or two before taking up the track. Now this is where the video of the spike comes into play. While I was waiting some buddies stopped by camp to visit . I told them I had shot a small buck and showed them the video. We waited about 1 1/2 hr and went to take up the track for my spike. After about 70 yds one of the yelled SPIKE MY _$$, you dirty son a gun. I looked up and there he lay. Then the work began getting him out of the holler. It was worth every drop of sweat it took to get him out. It field dressed 200 lbs
By the way he only went about 70 yds as I mentioned earlier , with a big hole in his heart. Those woodsman leave a big hole.i would rather be lucky than good
Nice, congrats
