Title: Living Primitive and grateful
Post by: LongStick64 on November 15, 2012, 12:06:00 PM
After Sandy hit, I was without power and heat for 13 days and boy did I miss it. But with my Asbell Wool at least I was warm. My wife and kids relocated and I held the fort. Setup all of my camping gear in the den and camped out. Felt like a kid without an Xbox without my laptop to check in to my favorite site....Tradgang.com !!!

I am glad you made it ... no power or heat for 13 dyas is a long time, especially if you are not set up for that kind of living.

Bob.

Good on you.  We weathered Sandy fine, but during the normal course of winter storms will lose power for a day or two.  Sometimes a week (bad ice storms take down multiple trees/lines frequently).  Good to have the tools and skills to weather a bit of trouble.

We have permanent oil lamps in three rooms and can cook on the wood-stove in the living room.  Many wool blankets.  Pays to be prepared.

Yes, outdoor/camping skills are more useful than just for deer camp.Glad you did okay after the storm. Be sure to pass some of your knowledge along to your less savvy neighbors. I hope you guys get things back to normal soon.
