How good are Steger Mukluk Boots for the cold weather? Thanks Warren...
Will Steger and many others have been using them while running a team of sled dogs for many years,in all parts of the far north.
I do not have much up to date knowledge of the new line up, but the ones we used 20 years ago worked well. Very light weight also.
Good luck in your search.

Awesome boots, I have two pairs, first pair I purchased last year (artics extreme). Did the job late season.
I liked them so much I purchased the Camuk Extrems for a more all purpose hunting boot, more water resistant.
If you do decide to buy, make sure to take their sizing chart serious.
There very light weight, they feel like wearing slippers, very comfortable.
Thank You, I am going to buy a pair. My feet cant take the cold anymore.
I've been curious about the Mukluks for some time, although I've never bought them. Are they of any real value if you have to climb? I can see them being very useful on a stand or ice fishing but not sure if you have any vertical terrain to cover. Any thoughts?
I've also found the Empire Canvas boots to be intriguing.

They are cold dry weather boots, have the Stegers, have snowshoed and winter traveled in them over winter terrain in northern MN, they certainly don't bite into the ground like a heavy sole or crampon might. Have seen and handled the Empire Canvas boots would think they would perform similarly to stegers, heard they might hold up a little better but like said alls is I've heard, don't really know.
I have a pair and love them for cold weather hunting. My brother bought the Cammuks and I will be getting a pair of them. the waterproof option on them is very nice. MIne are cloth and don't do the greatest with wet snow. as far as climbing with them, probably not the greatest choice. Best boot I have worn for snowshoeing.
