I've owned a Loggy Bayou climber for, well, lots of years. One of the sturdiest stands ever and once you get it locked in you can stand out on the edge without it budging. The problem is getting it locked in. Last night I climbed and got to the top and the the seat wouldn't lock so due to the angle of the stand. I had to climb back down and reset the angle on the stand and climb up again. It barely locked but finally did so. What a royal PITA. I was sweating like crazy.
Anyone have any tips to eliminate this?
The newer models don't have that problem. There are no locking pins in the seat. I now have the newer model with the cable instead of the band and it is my favorite climber.
Agree with peckerwood. Had the older model, now have the new. Prefer the new , you won't have that problem
I own two of the newer ones and gave my older ones away
I also have the cable model. What I did was buy the Lone Wolf hand climber top. This combo is really nice.
If you are talking about the push button locks fo rthe seat, I removed mine with needle nose pliers. Seat sets up at any angle and the whole stand is rock solid.
I never worried about it... if it locked in fine... if not all the better as sometimes they could be a pain if real tight...
Mine's one of the early with the chinease rope... I'd just lock the seat in with the rope and hunt... didn't worry about the pins...

PS I need to get it out... been a couple of years since I've hunted it as I bought a Lone Wolf and it's so much quiter climbing and just walking in with any limbs that might slap the stand... still a classic!
Turned mine into a hang on stand. Hate those darn buttons on the seat, fingers were so cold on night I couldn't push them in and had a hard time getting out!
I would remove those locking buttons and then put on a ratchet strap instead of the one that comes with the stand. It will be rock solid then.
I`ve climbed a ton of trees with mine and plan on using it more now that I started using trad bows. I guess you just got to make sure to put a little extra angle on the bottom so its level at top. Dont worry about the locking buttons.
Some years back on a trip to Alabama the stands were in the truck and got rained on as a cold front pushed through. Everything was frozen the next day like my truck doors. Well that evening I climbed way up in my loggy bayou and it got down in the teens that night. As it got dark and I decided to climb down guess what, the seat was frozen in the up position and I was stuck in the tree.LOL It took all I had with my head against the tree pulling on that sucker to finally break it free. My brother was waiting for me at the truck, I had the keys, we were both under dressed a bit,this was pre cell phone days.That was a cold night.
Friday night I had mine up the first time with the pins unlocked and it moved slightly. After I came back down and readjusted and got them to lock it didn't move at all even if you stood on one corner. That's why I like this stand. I may consider drilling two more holes to allow it to tilt more.
I use the old one as a hang-on stand if the tree is vertical. Very comfortable! I like to put the stand in a forked tree and I use ratchet strap to secure the front of the stand as well. I do this on many of my hang-ons for stability.
I have a Loggie Lite, that I've used for about 10 years. I also got stuck in it one evening after dark when the pins wouldn't release. Finally able to push them out with my knife handle. Not much fun stuck in a stand after dark. Very solid and light weight stand.
Just this year I've started using a Lone Wolf, it's a great stand, but I still like the Loggie, just getting a little too old to hug the tree as I never used a climbing aid.
