Is anybody having trouble with photobucket?
Yes can't resize photos.
I spent over 10 hours(over3 days) with those people 3 months ago about the issues I was having with the site. Wound up losing everything I had stored there. Found out later they were breached by a hacker, haven't been back since.
yup that site is not to great in my opinion just my two cents worth
Lots of problems. It used to work fine for me, but I've had all kinds if trouble with it for the past 6 months or so. Sometimes it wirks. Other times it doesn't Can't tell you how many tines I have tried to upload photos to it and had my computer just lock up on me, requiring me to close it down and start over.
I have no idea what has changed or what the problem is. Some sort of software compatibility issue I suppose. I've just about given up. If it doesn't want to work I just skip it.
I'm pretty frustrated with it. Had that on a list to learn this year, but have given up. Some seem to be doing quite well with it but I have limited computer abilities and although Rob S. has some info on it, his post is from 2009. Seems like they may have made some "improvements" there at "photo bucket central" that are beyond my reach.
I guess my computor skills are limited also I can not work it either. :banghead:
yep I swore at it half the day sunday
Any alternative to photobicket?
I use www.hunt101.com. (http://www.hunt101.com.) I find it easy and effective.
Why does this site require photobucket? I've had problems trying to post pictures here and gave up.
I have NO PROBLEM posting pictures on other sites.
Yesterday when I logged in it gave me the option to participate in their beta testing for the mew version of the site that will launch soon. I can only assume all the recent issues people are having are related to the upcoming transition.
I have used the new photobucket version, easier to download pics, but that is all I like about it! Reszing is tougher now as you can't just chose your size as in the old version! I may go back to the old version for now, as a user you have that choice!
I stopped using PhotoBucket a while ago. There really IS an easier way and it's right here on TradGang. Here is the link:

You can get on that thread and read your way down through it until you are ready to try it for yourself. You can even practice your photo upload procedure right there on that thread until you are confident enough to use it. :)
Good Luck!
Mike
Hate Photobucket !!!! No more for this fellow..
:o :o :o :banghead: What the hell it works sort of.
I've never had an issue with Photobucket.
If anyone is interested I have put together a Power Point presentation that I think can walk almost anyone through posting a picture using Photobucket. It is meant for those who are not so computer savvy, so if you are comfortable posting pictures and it is just the Photobucket web site that is messing up, then this won't be of much help. I used my 11 year old daughter as my Guinea pig, sat her in front of the computer with the Power Point and told her to follow it, when she was done, she had posted a pic.
If you are interested, let me know and I'll email you a copy.

I think you have to choose what size your pics need to be before you upload them. Which is for the birds, cause I may want to keep them full size for other applications.
It's not a matter of knowing how. I've posted literally hundreds if pics without problems. Something has changed. Maybe IE updates don't like photobucket. Or photobucket just hasn't kept up with software upgrades. (Most likely). It worked in the past relatively well, although it has always been a cumbersome process. Now it works sporadically. Beyond me to figure out why.
Just trying it out!

Might want to check what version of IE you are using. I know the newer versions have been giving us all kinds of grief at work. Can't open PDF files, can't download certain stuff from some web sites...etc.
At home I have ditched IE all together and went with Google Chrome or Firefox. Pretty much have been with Chrome exclusively for months. Seems to be faster and less problems. I'd suggest giving it a try and seeing if it makes a difference.
Congratulations, Bisch! :clapper:
Mike
My problem is not making it work, or image size etc. It is sloooow; and I'm not young anymore! :bigsmyl:
Nice hog!!
My problem is not getting enough practice posting pics!! I haven't killed anything since my Australia trip a year ago!
I ranted a bit about this during my elk hunt story. I switched to the beta version and it kept locking up. (Or saving and saying it was resized, only to find out it wasn't. ) Nobody chimed in ,so I figured it was just me. I use a Mac so its probably not just an ie thing.
I don't know whether the free version of Photo bucket, over the pro version makes a difference. i have the pro version with unlimited storage and no advertizement crap, and i haven't had any issues.
up loading multiple images at the same time i had problems with if the file sizes were too large. Resizing before you upload is a lot faster. if you want to keep high resolution photos for other applications that's cool. start a photo bucket file and save copies using 640 width....
I've got files i mark "Web ready".
a lot of these little phone cameras and other digital cameras shoot very high resolution photos. if you are uploading 4000 pixel photos to the bucket before sizing them... THAT is why it's so slow.... do your editing first and it makes things go smoother.
you are always going to get your best photos shooting in very high resolution,. then cropping the photo down before saving it.
i just did a test and uploaded 27 photos in one minute 20 seconds and here's one of them.

Kirk, good advice. I've had no problems at all with PhotoBucket other than it being a bit slow. I Think I'll do as you suggest and start a web folder with the same sub-folders as my others and resize everything that goes in the web folder before uploading.
I had the devil's own time a few months back...
I have an email folder with their name on it with all the exchanges between their tech support and I.
What I foudn, fwiw, is that my problem was they upgraded a bunch of stuff on their site...and some bugs came to light with MS-IE... they urged me to upgrade to another higher version, but on another site, same-same with IE9 and my IE8.
Switched to Firefox browser and use it just for accessing PB and ALL...I mean ALL my headaches went away! I had a bunch, too... including they told me if I cropped and replace original, even though it showed "cropped" in my album, when I'd post, it would post the uncropped version! They said it took 24 hrs for the edited pic to get stored for posting!
Firefox fixed that! I'd have right side ads all over the right side of my albums so I couldn' use those pics or see them... etc ad naseum.
Good deal Doc! I too am using the Firefox browser.
www.flickr.com (http://www.flickr.com) is free, easy, and much more workable/manageable then photobucket.
I wish the forum ovner would use Tapatalk, it is free for the forum ovner. Then you can post pics direct from your IPad, Iphone or other similar phones. Thousands of forums across the world is using tapatalk. Bue--.
