Title: Budget Trail Camera
Post by: emt137 on November 06, 2012, 04:40:00 PM
Was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for a first time game camera? IR would be great. I'm looking maybe in the $100 range, less would be better.

Thanks a bunch!

I have found the Primos 35 under $80.
It's takes decent photos night and day and is simple to set up. Pretty good on batteries too.

Their earlier models had a "noise" issue with the trigger but that has been resolved.

My friends have Coverts and Bushnell trophy cam but they are a little more $.

I have a couple of SpyPoint cameras, the ones I have came from Gander Mountain and they were $99 at the time, I believe they run around $120 most places. They are IR and have great battery life and clear daytime pics, night time pics could be a little better but not bad for a $100 camera. You can see the glow from the IR when it takes a pic at night but I don't think its that bad.

This is the one I have. It's my first trail cam and I am loving it. Still going on the first set of batteries from Sept. 30th.
