Went out this morning. Had a spike come in and walk right under me. Suddenly a nice young four point came in posturing and they pushed each other around a little. This is the larger one sniffing my prusik knots:

Moments after they left, I heard footsteps and a trio of does entered the woodlot. The browsed on fallen leaves and eventually acted as though they were going to leave. I hit "the can" a few times and the lead doe turned and began slowly feeding toward me.
:campfire:
She was walking directly toward my tree. One of the limbs/trunks of the tree I'm in was between us. I was trying to figure out which side she would emerge so that I could position my feet for the shot. Once in the open, she was still facing me. Slowly she turned broadside and I began to drag the shaft across the shelf. She paused, looked back at the other two does, and took a GT Trad through her chest.
At the shot she ran back from where she came, stood near the fence wondering what had just happened. After crossing the fence, I lost sight of her. Following a brief pause, I saw one of the other does leap through the bean stuble with her flag up. I was confident her companion was laying nearby.
Regardless, I waited approx 20 min (just long enough for "the shakes" to stop), climbed part way down my ladder, and looked over my shoulder. She was laying in the bean field, crimson covering her chest. No tracking today. :)

I kept scrap meat for jerky and dropped the rest off at the butcher to be picked up by some friends who adopted three from Hatai and have trouble making ends meet at times. They will benefit from it far more than my family.
Thanks for looking and God Bless!
Dad and my nephew arriving to help me drag her out.

Congrats! I dig those arrow wraps!
I do like my equipment to have aesthetics and be functionally lethal. I collaborated with the folks at OneStringer on my custom wraps and they delivered exactly what I wanted. I think helical adds to their look too.
