BUSTED! TWICE! In the same area two days in a row! I need to hunt smarter! It is a humbling experience! :saywhat: :knothead:
It happens,keep at it.
I have been humbled a few times this season, none moreso than last night when I missed a chip shot at a doe. Keep at 'em and it will come together (I hope).
I learned "humility" when I started hunting on the ground more. My normal treestand spots are all in big pines, with lots of cover. I could wear a lime green leisure suit and do the hustle up there and not get busted. Hunting on the ground....dang....I had to re-train myself. I feel your pain :bigsmyl:
Yep, that can be frustrating! :banghead:
It can be a very tough game.an a VERY humbeling one at that.some days you feel like Fred Bear an other days I feel like I just started ,some days I ask myself what the hell is going on?
I love the ground game, been ground hunting for 3yrs w my longbow. I learn some new knowledge each time I have an encounter w a deer, the first yr I got busted constantly, I realized that I was setting my blinds up for rifle hunting when deer do not have to be that close to you to take a shot I also realized that shooting lanes, sitting position are critical to taking a quality shot at a deer! Last year I learned more about cover, concealment and changing how I build my blinds! This year its seems like it finally coming together, I have been real close to deer and I only been busted by one smart mama doe! I have been within 8yds on another doe couldn't get a shot but didn't get busted either! I have had 2 smaller antlered bucks that I see on a regular basis I have been able to draw on them several times with out being made! Hopfully when my shooter buck or doe comes in everthing I have learned will come together, then again maybe I will learn something new for the next time! I wouldn't want any other way!
The other team gets more practice time! Get used to it! :bigsmyl:
I know what you mean, busted 4 times on the ground this year!
sorry double post!
I'm with Ron, deer have been rare this year for me, the only one within 20 yds came from the wrong direction and booked out, I did see the tail and fat hind quarters
Those dumb deer tend to bust me more often than not.
what does that make me :readit: :knothead:
Getting busted is all part of the game. It's like them coming and setting in the middle of your living room. I just figure, I'm in their house and they know their way around a lot better than I do. I've been busted more times than I care to mention. Think you have the perfect spot and perfect wind, then bam! some ol doe will pick you off. Gotta love it!!

Hear Hear! I was sitting over a small trail between a pond and a river. The wind is in my face blowing over the river, as I see two does start down the trail. About 20 yds out they are behind some cane, just need a couple more steps. I distinctly remember the wind blowing in my face directly away from the deer. I was sure I was going to have a shot. She lifts her head, sniffs the air, and blows.
Not the first time, won't be the last.
Shot my buck this year from a Double Bull blind. They are great if you have a place to set them up where they won't get stolen. Wind and movement on the ground will get you busted, often before or without you knowing it.
