Well boys I did it again , I got my new Tall Tines longbow out again and did some work with it. Turns out it likes heavy arrows my GT 75/95s with 100gr brass insert and 3in footing a 125gr steel adapt and a big TreeShark is what it likes. The bow pulls 64lbs at just over 30in for me and it shoots like a dream with those heavy arrows. So now that I had it shooting I had to take it out hunting. With only a few days til gun season starts I had high hopes for one of two bucks I have been after all season. With the rut getting going here and seeing deer all over I had my fingers crossed.I was not sure if these deer were still alive cause we had a road hunter kill a deer a few nights ago not 200yds from our fence line down on the road ( they never caught the guys , they got a buck with a rifle around midnight ) wish I could have got my hands on those guys. Ok now back to it I was still on the high of getting that buck the other day and wanted it to continue. I had moved some stands last week in some high traffic areas with a lot of scrape activity. Be right back gota load the pics...........

Ok the two deer I have been after all season , one is a nice heavy horned 10pt with short G4s and the other is just a nice 10pt buck. Both of these deer are very nice for the area that I hunt and I would be proud of either. The weather said the winds would be SSW to just W , so I knew where I would be this morn. I got out to the place plenty early this morn and on my way in ran into a few hogs I could see them way on out there with the full moon we have.Boy I sure wanted to go after them dudes but I held back. The temp was nice and crisp this morn but was supposed to get up to 90 today , and if it was going to happen it had to be today I gota go to work tonight. So I acted as if I had never seen the hogs and went on to the stand to sit in the dark for an hour.In the stand now everything set video cam set-up and ready for the better or worse.........
As the sun came up and woods came alive the deer started to move first it was a spike then a few doe.The wind held true and the deer just kept on all around me , a nice 8pt came in to mess around and eat the acorns. Then another cool looking 8pt then the spike was back.I sat and got a lot of good video and was tempted several times to shoot the bigger 8pt but for some reason I held back. Its getting on around 9:00am now and the sun is right at my back and the wind in my face and deer right in front of me and you gota love that. Then they all look up and stare down in the woods and guess who is swaggering down the trail on a B-line for us........
It is the one and only short G4 buck , my heart just about jumped out of my chest ( Im sure it skipped a few beats ). Keep in mind I aint saying he is a monster by definition but he is dang good for here and plenty good for ol Sam here. He keep on his way in stopping here and there tearing at small trees and putting his ears back , I got some of him on the way in on camera. With the other deer so close it was hard juggling the camera and keeping an eye on everyone and him.Well he came all the way in and pushed the other deer around for a bit and let them know who was boss.By now I am shaking real bad and he is all of 10yds away I just need him to turn.....
Ok as he is moving through he is at my last lane and he needs to turn just a bit.My top limb is to close to a big limb so I have to cant the bow way over to the left and Im right hand shooter , didnt like it but it was this or nothing. He made the move I needed and he was in the frame of the camera good it was now or never. I drew held and then let her rip , It all happened so fast at the shot as it always does. Dang I dont think I made the best shot but I thought it was plenty good though. Now Im sure my heart was going way to fast and my breathing wasent what it should have been.I sat down and pulled myself together and watched the video and the shot was good. The other deer just kept doing there thing like nothing ever happened.I waited about an hour and filmed more deer and sent a few texts to some friends.I started looking with my binos from the stand for any sign on the ground , and I think I see some good sign. Stood up on my tree-stand seat ( not the safest thing ) but sure enough a white belly not 60 or so yards away , thought about jumping down...........
Sam you are killin' me. I'll have to catch up in the morning!!
Like I said turns out the TreeShark did a number on him and he did not go far. I think I floated over to him or was carried by butterflies maybe.I think he is a great buck and a good one for the first with the new Tall Tines longbow. And it is all on video and all well that ends well , now off to the fire station. So he is my second tall tine buck with my new Tall Tine bows in a week......
