Can you recommend me a carbon arrow for my 58 BW PCH. My bow is 48# at my 27 inch draw. I want to shoot a fairly heavy arrow and will be using 125 grain Magnus Stingers. What shaft, what length, and what insert? Thank you.
A 28 inch 3555 gt traditional will weigh only about 415 grains like that. Big Jim's price on the blems cannot be beat. I would buy a 50 grain insert. That'll put it close to 10 gpp and kill anything you want to shoot. God Bless
I shoot bows that weight with Beman MFX Classic 500 arrows with 100 grain brass insert and 125 grain head they weigh 525 grains.
I have Arrow Dynamic Lites cut to 30 inches with the weighted brass insert and 225 grain broad head that gets me about 625 total. Going with a heavy point is the only way I could breech the 600 grain mark. Arrow is bit stiff on my 45 lb great northern fieldbow but is near perfect flight wise on my 45 lb and 51 toelke whip. I get somewhere in the neighborhood of 25% front of center with this set up which according to Ashbey puts me in the sweet spot for front of center and 25 grains shy of his minimum ideal weight.
i have a similar set up, I use heritage 150s with a 50 grain brass insert and 125 bear razorhead. I shoot it out of a 45# bear Kodiak hunter and it flys pretty good and has killed a few deer.
My PCH 47# at my draw of 28" likes a 35/55 gold tip camo cut at 29 1/4" with 100 grain brass insert and a 165gr broadhead. This set up is a 510gr arrow. The broadhead is a Magnus I with a screw in adapter, pass through is the norm. With your head the shaft may have to be left longer to weaken the spine a little.
For that setup I would choose a Carbon Express Heritage 90 or 150 shaft with either a 50 or 100 grain brass insert. If you only want to use the light weight aluminum insert I would choose a Carbon Express 90.
I wouldn't cut all shafts at once. Cut one down to 30" then hot melt glue in your insert and start your tuning process whatever that may be. I always cut mine down a 1/2" at a time until I find the length that fly the best. My guess in your arrow length will end up around the 29" mark.

x2, but would add the 50gr weight options as needed or start with the 100gr brass insert.
