I'm curious because so many people use archery equipment of currency on here... but what's that one you could never get rid of even in case of an emergency? And why?
If I can help it I'll never sell my:
Zipper SXT recurve with foam core/carbon evo limbs
Thunderhorn longbow wood core limbs
Morrison Cheyenne with foam core/carbon limbs
Why, because they shoot fantastic for me at any angle and I like that when hunting.
Wait a minute.
I can only keep one? That's impossible!
I guess if you held me on the ground in a choke hold it would probably be my Jack Howard Gamemaster. It is a beautiful and great shooting bow, and although there are a couple of customs that see more time in the woods and that I can't see ever selling, the Howard would be the most difficult to replace. I could always order another one of my favorite customs.
My Kanati. I can shoot other bows, leave the Kanati alone for weeks, then pick it up and put the arrows right where I'm looking. It is light, quick, quiet and dead in the hand. I love buying, selling, and trading other bows. I keep looking for something that will equal my Kanati. So far, I'm still looking. If I had to limit myself to one bow, I'd already have it. ;)
My 1971 K-Mag. Dad bought it new the summer between his Jr-Sr years of highschool. I don't ever shoot it because of my 30+ draw but I could never replace "Dad's" bow.
I like that gooser! And 30coupe i miss my kanati to death!!!!!
Bows that I have made for myself. That said, I have learned to never say never.
At this point in time I'd give that nod to my 66" Omega longbow. I'm a toy trader too but that one is the best shooting bow I've owned.
If I had to pick just one it would be my Super Shrew,it fits like a glove and shoots where i'm looking. :archer:
My hoyt hunt master I got for my 15 th birthday.
Stewart TD slammer- plus some others but the Stewart was what came to mind first
My Toelke Lynx
My Timberhawk Recurve
I already sold the one I said I'd never get rid of. I've discovered I like trading and selling....maybe to my detriment.
My 66" Liberty Bows Edge
to many that have special meaning to me. made the mistake of selling my Kanati ONCE, that will NEVER NEVER happen again!
Any bow, or anything for that matter that my wife got for me.......
... mike ...
My Toelke Super D
Right now I am getting an urge for a 2 piece longbow though, but it will never replace the D. So far I'm fighting it, so please don't offer me any bow bolt whip or anyhting like that. PLEASE DON"T DO IT!!!! :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
Mine is my Jack Howard Gamemaster Jet. For one it is almost impossible to find another. Secondly its my old standby. If I'm not shooting well I pick it up to get back to basics. It is the ultimate bow to train with... or hunt with for that matter.
Recurve PA-X
Longbow Zipper Nitro c/f limbs
69" 62@28 Howard Hill Falcon Longbow made by Kramer.
I like that gooser! And 30coupe i miss my kanati to death!!!!!
That's easy, my 62" Black Widow PSA V
Why, well the wife and I raised 6 kids and I saved for 17 years to get this bow. When you are in the middle of raising 6 your bow savings takes a back seat and gets robbed from time to time.
After 17 years of tiring to save enough to get my widow the last young one left the nest. When my next birth day rolled around my wife said hey you should get that bow you have always wanted, I gave her a kiss and picked up the phone, January of 06 It arivied, it just fits me and I would never trade or sell it.
No way I'm selling my 60" 52@28" Zipper SXT recurve. :nono:
Bill
Leon Stewart Slammer TD.
My son's first bow, when he was just a little tyke, with his name on it, all others are subject to being moved on in one shape or form if necessary.....the four bows I have now I'm happy with and I don't think I'll be moving them on any time soon,,,,,but yea never know....I'd like to add one or two also when the time is right....but my son's little bow....NO WAY!
Like Whip, my Jack Howard Gamemaster. I bought it from Jack in 1967 and I have resisted many attempts to get me to sell it over the years.
I'm with TxAg. I already sold the bow I thought I'd never sell(beautiful Toelke Lynx). Right now I have a Thunderhorn Vintage and a Nate Steele 62" Expedition Hunter T/D that are interchangeable.
Kempf 62" Trophy Hunter T/D coming in December and a Kendall 62" Kanati in February which hopefully will be a T/D. :notworthy:
Voodoo Elk Riser Take Down Longbow- Elk Antler Riser, 3/4 skinned Walnut Limbs with Elk Limb Tips.

Too much Traditional Character, Too Good Looking, Too Functional(Speed and Accuracy) to ever sell. When I got it my Wife asked, "Is that a display bow you just hang on the wall? It is a piece of Art!"
I've owned a bunch (!) of really fine bows over my lifetime and decades of hunting. Many are one-time works of art that nobody can likely ever duplicate. I had a lot of fun and enjoyment figuring out what makes a bow a beautiful one, as well as a perfect shooter. A thousand bucks here and two thousand there...twenty or more fine customs...it adds up. That said...
I have never owned a bow I wouldn't sell, and I've sold some beauties. Some of them killed many animals, and big animals. I've never been one to form an emotional attachment to a bow or other object. Don't ask me why, but I find them as easy to sell as anything. Come to think of it, I've never missed one after it was sold, either.
My custom Tall Tines longbow is with me for the long haul.

My 1st Trad Bow: 1974 Darton Trailmaster Recurve. Something about this bow really touches my soul. I dont shoot it much because I've moved up in draw weight, but I'm very fond of this bow.
I shoot three differant bows off and on,but it
seems I always take my cari-bow peregrine hunting.
Well for me it's my 2004 Black Widow PSA-X Kingwood. Wood is phenominal and it's the first left handed bow I bought after being forced to make the switch. Took my first deer with that bow shooting from the "other side". I'd give my best gold tooth for another one just like it.
Great Plains Wolf Creek recurve.
It was a college graduation gift from my Dad; it's autographed by Stacey Grosscup; and it's the bow I took my first traditional deer with.
Well to answer your exact question I guess in the case of an emergency I would sell every bow but currently the last to go would be my Cari-bow Slynx.
Smokes an arrow and I'm consistantly drawn to it.
I don't intend to sell any of my bows, especially my Hill bows. In particular, I would not get rid of my first Wesley Special. My Cheetah is also sneaking into that same category.
I tend to live my life one bow at a time so at any given time I only have one bow or am about to sell one to leave me with only one.
I dont think there is anything wrong with one bow at a time. I like trying new things too but if it doesnt click within a week or so I just get rid of it or if it does click right away I get rid of what I had.
Thats just how I do it.
Hmmmmm, if I can keep only one I am going with my 56" Bruin one piece. I shoot it very well, it is light and very easy to use out of a stand or on the ground.
Mine would be a longbow that i nick named " Ole no Name" its 70ish lbs, 70" with no markings what so ever.
I picked it up in a trade in which the owner was convinced that it absolutely the worst bow he ever owned. After receiving it, and properly tuning and setting it up, it has turned out to be one of the finest shooting longbows i own.
My BW Ebony Bigfoot Sasquatch recurve will always be mine -- God willing.
I'm lucky to have two sets of limbs for this bow so maybe, if I can't pull one set I can drop to the other pair which are about 5 pounds lighter.
I have other bows I really like a lot that I can't imagine moving but I am not as sure I would never part with them.
My 66" Omega with a walnut riser......custom made for my hand and arms......enjoy every arrow I fling with it :-)
All the bows I have I really like,but...those bowyers are still building bows and I'm sure I could get them to build me their "newest, best" and be perfectly happy.
My 1968 Howatt Monterey. 62" and 49# @ 28". I still take her hunting once in a while.
That is one sexy howatt!
My 1966 52# Browning Explorer.
She just puts 'em where I'm looking and with a good turn of speed.
My Sunset Hill Longbow. It is named "okiciyapi". That bow will never be sold.
Rocky mt Recurve
I had a Jack B Harrison Siberian. Wish I had never sold it.
Regret, regret, regret.
My Black Widow, either one. They just shoot good for me.
My great northern critter gitter. I have owned 31 bows and that is the bow that i will never sell. I can pick it up any given day and put an arrow where i am looking.
well I also say, never say never.but I just cant see myself selling my shafer silver tip.they really are everything people say they are,you simply cant do better then perfect.

If you ever change your mind, that bow is EXACTLY the one I have been searching for! Very hard to find, but good to see they are out there.
Someday!
Joe, they're hard to find for good reason. I have not found a newer style recurve that shoots any better. Sorry, but this one stays on my rack. ;)
62 Kodiak my Granddad bought new. She's still in great shape and still goes hunting. I missed a buck with her last week but she gets to go hunting again Saturday.
I would HATE to sell my 66" Robertson Mystikal 67@28", but nothing is sacred if it means helping my family.
God Bless,
Nathan
My Tomahawk !
Where is the cliff-----I'll just jump!!!!!!
My Shrew Osage Scout. It was made by my good friend Gregg Coffey, it was signed by Fred Asbell, Ron LaClair, and Glenn St Charles, and I killed my first ShrewHaven deer with it.
And I still hunt it every year. This pic is from Idaho last month.
Green Mountain Longbow, 62" 55# @ 30 reverse handle, Native Vermont Cherry limbs and a Zebra wood riser. It was my first made for me custom bow and now would be impossible to replace. I got it in 1996........
A Trails End Recurve that Dale Dye made for me in 1997.
My 66" 64#@26&1/4" Schulz Legend, the fastest Hill style longbow I have ever seen. Unless someone has about a thousand bucks they want to part with, but that won't ever happen, so I am keeping it.
My next one? :dunno:
All of them! :D
Probably my MOAB. My wife thinks its hers and she killed her 2 bucks with it this month. I'd be sleeping on the couch with my Centaur Carbon Elite if I sold that one. :D
Man i envy you guys!
I guess I've got two. My Rocky Mountain recurve, I've had that bow about 30 years and a RER recurve. Only had the RER for 5-6 years but one sweet shooting bow.
Saluki Ibex for me.
I shoot it like sh!t but my father gave it to me.
And despite my inaccuracy with it, it is a hoot to shoot.
My 1966 little Bear. 48" and 15#.
All my kids learned how to shoot from it and it
hangs in my living room still.
Each time I look up at it, I think of them.
........Philip
I have had hundreds of really great bows. There are a few I really wish I had now but not many. Two stand out in my mind, A 52 lb. Monterray that was perfection if ever a bow was perfect and a Sentman that just fit me to a T.
I'm Kind of like Kevin Dill though. No single bow that I am really attached to although once in a while I have an Eagle Wing that really is hard to ship; I just tell myself that I will build another one and I'm ok. Problem is I never seem to get the other one built without selling it/. Its like this great big merry go round. So many great bows and so little time. One bow I will always have though is my Sasquatch that Kirk sent me for Christmas. Its a sign of our friendship and I will never sell that one because of that.
God bless you all, Steve
I have a a vintage bear thay grinch gave me, its not gping anywhere, if anything ill pass it down to a loved one in the re....hits like a rocket too!
My Schulz trophy hunter customized by Nate Steen of Sunset Hill. I love it.
I would have to say my new BW PL X that I just got this year. I shoot it as good or better than any stick bow I have ever owned. Plus I killed my first really nice traditional buck with it this year.

Me too....and several old Grayling Bears my Dad bought. I suppose I have LOTS of stuff that isn't going anywhere!
I have a 58" 45# Darton Super Flite Ranger with yellow glass.
That bow got me started in Trad but I wasen't ready to commit so I gave it to a friend. Years later he gave it back and I killed my first 2 trad deer with it.
It will be handed down to my sons.
My Elburg Cherokee Magnum. Why? Because I wouldn't be able to replace it.
Brackenbury Legend. Macassar ebony and zebrawood.
64" bow, it is the easiest, smoothest and most accurate bow I have ever shot.
I will likely never sell it.
John
My Dad's '66 Bear Grizzly. Just because it was his.
And my Rose Oak King Panther, because my wife sneakily watched over my shoulder as I admired Brandon's bows. She called him on her own got the bow ordered and surprised me with it for our 15th wedding anniversary.
This plain jane Bob Lee short riser with 60" longbow limbs I painted with patio furinture paint in brown. It truly shoots where I look and just fits me.Kip

Any bow from Jack Kempf !!!
Well I traded off the Kwyk Styk I successfully hunted Black Bear with in AK... That's one I thought would never leave..
And then there was my 60"57# Griffin t/d with the Bow Bolt :knothead:  :biglaugh:

While there have been a few I said I would never trade or sell and did, I think I can safely say that I will never trade or sell my GN Fireball jackknife, 62", 51#@29". Shoots well for me and I just like shooting it.
My Cari-bow Peregrine is a special shooter.
I recently bought a Dale Arner takedown Longbow off Kimba. It is a wood feast, gorgeous and a shooter. I contacted Dale to learn more about the bow. Turns out it was the first takedown he ever made and he made it for himself and shot it for a year before passing it on. How cool is that? It is an absolute keeper for me. 2nd to that is probably my Miller Old Tom and 3rd my Holm Goshawk.
My Kanati, it's like an extension of my arm, point, shoot, and the arrow is there
My 1960 bear kodiak. Near perfect, rose wood, 47#@ 28. Givin to me as a junker by my father-in-law. Wish it was 10 lb's heavier........Still love the thing
Neither of my Predators, neither of my Treadway black Swamp, not my black widow SA,not my first self bow. Had a Great Plains that I killed many deer with and gave to my son, i guess its gone now, would not have let it go. years ago sold a Bear Bruin that I killed my first deer with, sold it, and wished I'd never let it go.
McCullough Griffin, 62" 61lb. @28". I feel like I found the bow I've been searching for since I started shooting. Just the absolute perfect bow for me.
I've got one here that is very special to me Built by brother Steve i'd never part with.... My Eagle Wing Talon II.

All of mine are for sale if the price is right. There are so many good bowyers out there making great products that nothing is irreplaceable. Besides, it's the guy shooting the bow that counts.
My 2 S-Tips,TD and a 1pc, aint going anywhere.
My 1959 Bear Kodiak, refinished by bowdoc.
Never say never, but I would sure hate to see my Appalachian Archery Middle Mountain LB go down the road. Back when I shot those other bows and got burned out on gadgets, a friend loaned it to me to try and put the spark back into archery. It worked, he sold me the bow, and it is still the one I compare all others to.
It would be my first custom Big River and not because it was my first. If I 'have' to make a shot that is the bow I pick up. It just fits me and is not picky about what arrows go thru it. 66" R/D 60@28 Coco and Myrtle.
I got a long bow from Jed Riddell it's called the terrestrial, made by a trad gang member,60 inch 53@28 with bamboo limbs and draws like butter,I don't know who made it but he did a fine job,the grip on this bow is perfect.
My Kempf Kwyk Styk will stay with me ! Just a joy to shoot and hunt. Maxx
My Cari-bow Peregrine would be hard to part with.
I would not sell my Great Northern Critter gitter Kermit.
I also would never sell my great northern lil creep my wife got me as a wedding present.
I won't sell my tomahawk diamond ss either.
Zipper Nitro longbow
My Schafer Silvertip, "Love Potion #9", it will be buried with me,LOL.

HOLY SMOKES Mr. Dan!!!! If that ain't a keeper nothing is!!
