I always carry a small digital camera in my pocket for pictures like this one while sitting in the tree stand. Anyone else?
Cool pic man.
Bob.
they aint sneaking up to you on that carpet!!!
I am hoping to see the bigger bucks moving does all day during daylight in a week or two. Until then, I am letting the ladies walk. Hey Bob, I see you are located 95 miles straight east of where I took the photo. How is the rut developing your direction?
I'm not much of a treestand guy, but I have been making like a squirrel for the last week or so. I have been seeing a lot of deer from on high, but nothing has come within range that I had a desire to shoot. This little buck is typical of the deer that have been in range; still waiting for some of the bigger bucks that I have been seeing to get close enough.

Great pics! Lately I've had the problem of trying to take a pic then realizing I should be getting ready for a shot :)
Creekwood,
The chase is on buddy, we have had lots of mornings with good hard frosts, the scrapes are checked very often, two or so times a day and if the bucks are not chasing they are looking for does with urgency. I have had a few near misses with mature bucks ... I am hoping to seal the deal this weekend. Good luck to ya man.
Bob.
Oh yeah I hang my grunt tube, rattle bag, bleat can and my camera where they are handy at all times.

We were trying to give him one more year. He had made a huge jump from a 2 year old to a 3 year old. Would see him often. It proved to be a major mistake as a gun hunter on the neighboring farm (I hope) shot and lost him during the rifle season about a month after I took these photos. We found him dead in the spring.
186"

That what I was thinking...... :saywhat: :saywhat: give him another year, I guess I'm missing something!
That's what happens to all the big ones where I live. I see them, don't get a shot at them and they are gone by the next season. The one from last year was killed by my neighbor's brother on his property during gun season.
Ouch! That had to hurt to find that bruiser dead!
I woulda given him another 5 seconds or so.
Here is a little guy from tonight.

Now this is a picture of a young buck. I think might be a 2012 model.
Nice photos, thanks for sharing.
There is no way I could pass up a 186"!!! Neighbors ruin everything lol
Nice photos guys. It never seems to work out ver often letting one grow another year. I bet he pasted on some good genes TJ. Hopefully you will get a shot one day at one of his offspring.
My bucks are all rouge, never see a 3 1/2 yr. old. Thats why I shoot 2 1/2 yr olds. Nice genetics were you live.
After seeing TJ's pix I'm betting most of us will sit back in awe !!
Here's one I saw a week or so ago. I was hoping another year or two would be benificial ..

I'm sorry but both would be dead if it was me,those would be braggin rites down here.
I guess I am just different from the rest ... I think any deer with a bow, trad or wheelie is a trophy. Heck I have shot some pretty big deer and some pretty small deer ... if the Lord is kind enough to let one walk in range, I try my best to hit it. I like big horns, but I like eating too. I doubt I would have let any of them walk if given the choice.
Pat, I guess it is true what they say, everythign is bigger in texas ... including hogs and deer horns!
Bob.
ACtually I think I'm more of a doe and pig hunter..
I've killed a few nice bucks over the years..
What I think it amounts to is, I'm getting old, lol..
Awesome pics!!
From last year...doe or kangaroo?

TJ, that is a bruiser. Steroids? Look at the muscle on that SOB!
Another little fart from this morning. I watched 9 bucks this AM, some of them starting to chase the girls. 2 were definite shooters by my standards, a third might have been but it was too dark to be sure. Anyhow, it is starting to get really good.

These photos aren't from this season.
I was ready to leave and these two little button bucks decided to bed down behind me.
