Anyone been there yet this year? Going on the 8th. Are they chasing yet?
They're definitely chasing does down here Jim. I expect it'll only get better. Most the activity I've been seeing has been later in the morning.
Did you guys see the deer killed in the wounded warrior hunt? Biggest bodied dear ever killed on the base... 200lbs on the hoof! They have killed some good ones this year. Wish I had gotten drawn!!!

Yes, that was a hoss! Hope to see some biguns!
Got my gear scattered across my living room floor as I type this. Headed down Wed. That pic and the activity I've seen here(NE OK)has me all fired up!
Been shooting my widow more as I have only hunted with my selbow so far this year.
Looking forward to it! Going Thursday a.m.
Good luck!
Just looked at the mcaap website -- they have killed some GIANTS this year. Very Impressive.
50 killed last week. Activity is definately picking up. Hey TSalt, what area did you hunt 2 years ago?
I will be there next Wednesday as well. Looks like warm weather with high winds. But I will take that over rain every time.
SBiles hunted there last weekend; he said they are really moving. Said he saw a lot of bucks.
I hunted Boggy... Forget the exact bunker number but it was the far southern edge. I missed a buck at 32 yards and a doe at 18! :banghead:
I have been getting excited. ML hunted all week, tomorrow will be my ninth morning in a row. I have seen 8or9 1.5 yr old bucks and does.
I can not wait to get down there where I can at least see some big boys!
We are on deer creek again, my least favorite area. Sure wish I new where some persimmon thickets were on there. I have hunted it many times but never found any in the areas I have frequented.
Jim - Mike Magee took a P&Y last weekend w/ a selfbow. Mikee, Terry and JohnBow will be there next weekend in Hominy. Good luck to you guys!
Tommy
Back from McAAP. I guess the moon and the heat shut them down. The majority I talked to weren't seeing much.
Saw some big ones driving out scout day! Hunted boggy, saw all my deer on the wheat. Had an encounter with a decent 8pt Friday night. I'm no trophy hunter but he wasn't one of the biggins I'd seen. I hesitated to long and he closed the distance to 15ft. I was on the ground in a ghillie poncho and never could draw my bow. He eventually trotted on off out of range and fed on out of my life.
Still pretty cool, hope to get drawn again.
Hunted boggy this weekend. Activity was very slow! I guess it was the weather and moon. I missed a nice 8pt Friday morning and saw a real nice 10 Sunday morning. He was on a mission and I couldn't get him to stop for nothin! Had a few small bucks come by and few does. They are offering quality passes on does and hogs. Food plots are looking good, acorns are limited. I think there were only 3 deer killed on sat.
There web site has two pics of deer taken last week with a selfbow. I have seen the older guy before, either at shoots years ago or at Mac.
Both are nice deer!
Will be in Hominy, hope they are moving.
One of my all time favorite hunts, always wanted to get the draw, good luck everyone.
Sounds like there will be some Oklahoma Selfbow Society members there this weekend also. I believe the Selfbow guy with the P&Y buck is also a member.
Now I'm torn between my Widow and my selfbow. Maybe I'll hunt with them on different days.
I am just about set to head that way. Warm temps and windy, Sunday we get rain and a cold morning. Good luck to all.
Oh yeah, I hope we still get a chance at a quality pass. But I am not holding my breath they have already killed 2 more does this year than last.
If not there is no way I am taking a doe. Takes to much hunt time away messing with it unless it is a evening hunt. Then I am usually ready to eat and get a cold one and not be skinning/processing a doe. As warm as the nights are going to be they will have to be dealt with the night of kill.
Again good luck to all.
Heading there in the a.m. I am pumped! This is the best timed hunt I have had drawn there.
With the wind and warm temps there may be less movement. Winds out of the S or SSE. At least we can set up for a semi steady wind direction.
Good luck guys! Can't wait to read your stories, success or not!

Deer Creek is now my favorite spot! I had no idea what I was talking about.
We had a good hunt.
That buck killed by Mike Magee was a hog! There is a picture over on *******.
Did you all harvest anything Briars? Anyone else have stories or pictures to share on Big Mac this year?
Since I can't seam to get drawn again, 3 years in a row now, these stories keep me going!

Hunted Deer Creek this past weekend. Is now my favorite spot also. Great trip. Saw lots of deer. Killed a doe at 10 yards Friday. Another guy in our group killed a 17 point 185er. I will try to get a picture up.
