Title: Running out of excuses
Post by: khall1 on October 28, 2012, 06:47:00 PM
Guys Im running out of excuses to tell my wife why I "need" a new bow or "need" some new arrows.  What are some of your excuses or tricks I may be able use in the future.

If you hang around her long enough she will figure out that there is no way to stop it. Mine just shrugs her shoulders.

First, buy her something nice.  Surprise her with it. Don,t mention the bow for a while or she will be suspicious.

Yep, Bisch has it right. Just ordered a new American Leathers glove today; the wife just sighed and accepted her fate.

Get her started quilting, she won't bother you about a bow now and then. Of course, you may not have any money left over for bows...   "[dntthnk]"

First...all cases and arrow caddys are to be the same size and color. There is NO reason to have variation! Don't mention this and don't ever let her see two cases at the same time be it for bows OR arrows. Women are smart, they know new bow means new arrows. It's kinda like a dress...new shoes MUST follow!

Always leave an empty case in your truck. Have all deliverys shipped to your work address. Should you aquire a bow simply put it in the case and carry it into the house. This part is important, do not handle the case as if there is something special inside of it. That will arouse suspicion!

NEVER EVER dote over the new bow with anybody but yourself or people you will never talk to again. Your buddies will talk to their wives who in turn will talk to your wife. It will go something like this.."Schmo got a new bow, why can't I get a new bow?" Not good. They are jealous and with malicious intent throwing your butt under the bus!  Which BTW, is right next door to the dog house.

You need to be working out of a seperate cash account, use Money Orders and Cashiers checks...no paper trail! All the afore mentioned is wasted effort when she asks...what is this $1,100 dollar charge to a BWA in Nixa, MO. Not good...you are Busted, DOA. There will be $1,000 in designer shoes encroaching into your 1/4 of the closet by next weekend.

Make certain you have multiple "cache" locations. Gear should be stored in convienent locations so you do not need to move gear in and out of the house, or transport it! Should she ever see "inventory" in the truck...dumb, dumb, dumb, let's THINK just a little bit for ourselves here.

One last thing...you need a photo bow, many a bow hunter has covered all the bases only to be busted while showing photos at a dinner party.  Somebody, usually a jealous "friend"  is going to say, "Hey Schmo, is the new Robertson Hyper Drive XT bow you have been talking about in this picture!  What a beauty, that had to set you back what $1,500 bucks?  Your wife of GF will be within three feet when this happens...promise.

She'll not say a word but there will be 2K in new shoes in what was once your 1/4 of the closet.

beats me!  I always get busted.  'Can't get away with anything.  I married over my head, she's great about it,  she knows I work hard for my family and that it's OK to buy a few things.  After all it's not smoking dope or gambling with the house payment!!!
Good luck..

What you need to do is start building your own bows.  That way each time you buy materials for a new one, you can explain to your wife how much money you're saving her.  That's what I do and my wife baught it for a while, but now she's catching on again.

Be honest and save for the bow you want, she'll appreciate the fact that it means that much to you.

OR...
Have Santa "give" it to you.
Put the box under the tree, To: You from: Santa, kinda hidden, open up Christmas day to loud shouting of "Santa gave me a bow!"
Really helps if there are kids present to divert loud shouting from your wife.
Also there should be something extra nice for her from Santa as well. This marriage thingy is a 50/50 affair on the whole.

I ran out of excuses.  Luckily my wife gave up on trying to keep track of my tools a long time ago.
