Watched the sun come up to a cool Indiana morning with a north wind blowing.

Setup next to a big ditch with a blow down behind a big Oak. The deer have to drop way down in the ditch and pop up right in front of me.
Deer in this spot don't usually move til later in the day so I sat back and enjoyed the morning and hoped the swirling wind wouldn't give me away. A little after 9 I had my first visiter. It was a large solo doe getting ready to cross the ditch and cross infront of me. She crossed, I started to draw with her at 5 yds. and Busted! Should have drawn while she had her head down Dummy!
The next two came in behind and I managed to take a couple pics.

good stuff Rob, and nice pics also
:campfire: :coffee: Looking good so far...
The sun was crawling higher in the sky and I was thinking maybe I should head home a little earlier than my regular all day sit. And.....
keep it coming! :)
Suddenly another solo doe appeared on the other side of the ditch. She was moving quickly til she hit the spot the other doe busted. After some looking around she started to cross. She came up infront but too quick to get a shot in my first lane.
As she moved across she caught wind of the scrape I had freshened earlier and put on the brakes and turned her head away from me. I was at full draw with vitals between a small beech and a huge vine. No room for error but it felt good. The string slipped from my fingers and POP!
Congrats Rob! I hope to get it done this year. Set'n in the woods as I type this. No action...yet! My son's with me, so I hope we see something.
Jason
Congrats to you sir.
Hey rob, looks like nice country!! That isn't by chance Patoka Lake is it?
Nice!!
Rob-good luck to you and hope it's a big one! Nice pics. Thanks.

"DOE" it's whats for dinner!
Nice pics and story so far Rob, Congrats!
Sorry guys. Had a bunch to do.
Anyway the best I can figure the Pop was a rib or the opposite shoulder not the tree I thought it was at first.
Placement looked good so I waited a bit and slowly took up the trail. Had very bubbley blood and a bunch of it for one hole.

At the end of about a 200 yard track I found her. She ran straight back toward the truck.

Great job Rob!!
Great doe to run TOWARD the truck!! LOL :D
The shot was a bit forward and she was quartered away. The 1.25" VPA did its job on the front shoulders, ribs, and lung.
I'm shooting a Two Tracks Longwalker 53#@28" CE 250's and 1.25" 250 gr. VPA's.
Here's a pic for Chuck.

Beautiful doe and pics. What a good girl to run towards the truck.
Looks like your wool and camera selection were top notch. I saw your earlier thread on the camera holder from 3R. Seems to work very well.
I'm thinking the ground is the place for me from now on. Your success is inspiring me.

What are they juicing those public land deer with? Must be some serious steroids for her to make it 200 yds on an outstanding shot like that.
Very well done, Rob!!!
great shot well done
Wow. Awesome
Outstanding!! A ground kill on public land. Very cool!!
You had to hike for that one because it was taken with a LONGWalker :D Congratulations, I'd take that shot placement every day of the week. I killed some trophy stumps with mine this weekend. Had a spiker in close but.....
Congrats on a fine doe! Sounds like it was an exciting morning!
Another Hoosier deer down! The pictures are awsome! Good job!
