Paddled up the river yesterday in my kayak in search of deer and hogs.

Nice! I've got a few spots I hunt that it takes a kayak/canoe to get to and I enjoy hunting them. Paddling to them while full of anticipation is always a good feeling.
Soothing to the soul :)
Nice pics. I hope your trip was successful in other ways too....
Seen some critters along the way.
There were alot of yellow belly sliders.

Once I hit land I knew I was in the right area with lots of deer sign and a heavy run trail so I found a tree with some brush around it, cleared out a spot and took a seat.I let out a few turkey clucks to cover my movement so that any onlooking deer might dismiss it and about ten tom turkey came walkin in.

As they went on their way they suddenly went on high alert and I knew something else must be coming.I rose to my knees and got ready.Suddenly i see a doe coming and she was coming fast. She passed by at about 40yds away and a nice high 8 point was giving chase.I tried to get them to slow down and then tried to get them to come back but not this time...
That is a nice black river....I have never got the chance to fish there....sure would like to. That is a good looking turkey. And yes those bucks are up and running them does.
The wind started swirling in all directions thanks to Sandy closing in and I knew it was time to go,maybe next time.
On my way back down the river it was kinda scary having to paddle past this 12 footer.

Beautiful pics!!!!!!
When I moved down here, I thought it was the neatest thing ever to see live alligators in the wild. I had only ever seen them in the zoo and on TV until then.
Where I work, I see them about once a week if the weather is warmer.
Thanks everyone.I got a new camera and this day trip was a test run for my Ohio trip next week.I hope to do a hunt along so tune in on friday the 2nd

Wow! Loving the story.

How do you get game out when using a kayak? Do you quarter it? That's why I prefer a canoe-plenty of room and easier to get into/out of than a kayak. I about rolled a kayak trying to get in where there was no landing.
Great pics, too. What kind of camera?
That looks like a pretty good day.
Very nice photos, and Thanks for sharing . Paddling past something as long as my kayak with all those teeth not so nice. Maxx
Thatr looks like a neat place! I hope you weather the storm well and good luck on your next outoing!

That's super cool. Wish I could do that once
Selfbow, I haven't had to take anything out yet in the kayak but I will figure it out when I have to.I was thinking I will probably have to quarter it so I have been carrying a good knife. It's a 17 foot kayak and very stable so It should do good unless I shoot a 300lb hog then I might be in trouble. :help:
Good story and nice images. Hope you'll share your next successful trip with us :)
really enjoyed your pics and story..Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.
Great pics, thanks for sharing!!

Oh and the camera Nikon Coolpix L810...I bought it at bestbuy.com it was 217.00 and has 26x optical zoom so far I'm impressed with it
Thanks for taking us along. Cool pics
Nomad,
First off thank you for taking the time to take and post those pictures. I love seeing the areas others hunt. Wonderful pictures. Secondly, I miss the canoe/kayak hunts, I really need to get back to that
Thirdly, I am glad I live in IL because I don't know if I could get out in that water in a kayak 3 inches above water level with those dinosaurs swimming around. I am a chicken and a half. I am the TOP of the food chain here in the midwest, no wolves, gators, bears, lions etc. Its me then the yotes. LOL
Great pictures and an even better day in the woods/on the water!
Glad i didnt miss this thread! I am hoping to buy a kayak here in Noveneber.
Keep posting pics! too cool
Used to fish the waccamaw river as a kid area called bulls creek.
Cool hunt. thanks for taking us along!
What a fantastic day,thanks for sharing.love the Dinosaur !
Great story and pictures, bought a nice canoe a couple of years ago and just trying to get the time to use it, old story, too much work and not enough playtime.
I'll look forward to reading about your adventures.
Looks like a great day!
