Had this little feller at about 10 paces the other day and decided to let him live another day but after I got to thinkin about it it would probably make a pretty cool mount instead of ending up Bobcat fodder! What do ya all think should I or shouldn't I!! (http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy358/stykbow/Albinosquirrelwallacedeerhunt011.jpg)

In a heart beat.
Man... he is beautiful. Only you can decide that one. I wouldn't shoot it so that maybe he/she could pass on those genes... and maybe I could see it again someday. I wouldn't look down on you for shooting it either, as it is truly a rare trophy.
yep, he would have been in the man cave if my aim was true. shouldn't be hard to find him again if you change your mind.
Very unique what a great trophy he would make.
That is one cool looking tree rat right there! If you would spend the $$$ to mount him then you should take him. If not, then let him go.
Bisch
Make a cool mount! You just don't see them everyday!
Jason
That is a toss up.
I only kill things that I eat, because otherwise I feel as though I have killed in vain.
Eating the animal is a form of respect and so I do not feel as though the life was wasted.
If I saw that squirrel I would shoot it. I would then force myself to eat the animal, as much as I dislike eating squirrels.
Finally, I would make a really neat mount for the man cave. Probably put him in that same pose or one similar on a branch and hang it artistically from the wall.
You would be showing the animal respect each time you shared your story with someone that was visiting.
That pic is all you need. Frame it and hang it in the man cave. A mount will just be collecting dust in no time.
USN Sam Come to my camp in South Louisiana for sq. season and I promise you will enjoy the way we cook Squirels.Dark gravy.cooked until tender with salad, bread and sides maybe a red wine to top it off.Kip
he would make a nice little edition to the cave.not everybody has one of them.so if you make up your mind to go git him you will probally never see him again.good luck
always wanted to mount three squirrels chasing each other around a tree one black, one gray,an a albino only saw one once in my back woods if you dont take it another predator will it makes a nice bright target good luck in whatever you decied
I suppose everyone knows the joke about the guy who brings his dead pet squirrels to the taxidermist.
Taxidermist asks "you want 'em mounted?"
Guy replies "Nah, just shaking hands will be fine." :bigsmyl:
Shoot it , would make an awesome mount.
Theres a town here in Illinois that is famed for its albino squirrel population. They're protected by law...now whether thats a local ordinance or state law I dont know as its also illegal here to harvest an albino deer.
I can't believe a hawk hasn't killed it yet, but I would let it live just to maybe see it again some time. Gotta be some kind of omen maybe?
naw let er go- we dont need to kill everything we see-just for the sake of killing. heck- i kill a lotta deer!thats good nuf for me! imho!!
That's cool. I do some hunting in Southeast Nebraska and have never seen one. The only one I ever saw was when I took my oldest son hunting in Michigan. We both saw it but he had a good view of it from the treestand. I only saw it bouncing through the brush.
If it's squirrel season, I would try and take him.
Turn one loose on him
That is a neat looking squirrel!
Best of both worlds, you let him live and have a great pic!
Let it live.
You did good.
I would have cut loose on it.
You already DID shoot it.... Nice shot too. :clapper:
I agree with Kirkll,great shot.
I have to admit it would look awesome on the wall but.... I never aquired the taste for skwerl meat so it'll get the pass!! I do like the idea of a framed pic  I think thats what i'll do. Thanks!!
Steve
Couple of thoughts: First, shooting albino animals may not be legal in your state - it's not legal in Wisconsin (at least for deer). Second, as far as I know, Albinos can't reproduce -they're sterile. Third, I don't think I'd shoot it just because it is so neat to see...............on the other hand it would sure make a neat mount.
What it all boils down to is your own personal ethics. As, I believe Aldo Leopold said, "Personal ethics are what we do when know one else is watching". Which ever way you decide is fine by me as long as it's fine with you.
I would take it home. Very pretty animal
wow what Wooddammon said, that poor fella sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl!!! i would have took the shot, i believe he life span will be on the short side! if not a hawk that and owl in the early morning, poor little dude has to glow in the tree's!
When I first retired from the Navy I took a job in pensacola Naval Air Station golf course as a greens keeper,we had 3 albino squirels there, between the red tail hawks and the foxes we lost only one they are very wary.I always looked forward to seeing them.
My little brother and I used to run around the neighborhood with bb guns and shoot rabbits and squirrels(our parents were at work and didn't know). There where two squirrels off limits an albino and one that was missing 3/4th of it tail.
I saw one in NE CT a couple years ago. I watched it for a half hour or so while my son played soccer. A couple weeks later, I saw it again....Smooshed on the road with his nice white tail blowing in the wind.
I would take him and send him straight to the taxidermist.
taking a pic was the right thing to do as it aint often ya see one like that :clapper: :clapper:
You got the only trophy I would need. Great pic! There are plenty of others to eat.

X1
That's a nice photo. You counted coup on him with your camera and decided to let him live. Nothing wrong with that. I would frame the photo and hang that on the wall.
It is a personal thing. There is no right answer. I would have shot him. But then again, I have passed on other critters that many people would have shot. An albino or piebald game animal is higher on my list than a double drop tine buck. Well...at least as high. Ok, maybe second.
I watched one close to my hone for a while til he got rub over. Lucky me I found him and snatched him off of the road in good shape. I gave him to my taxidermist. I have never killed one, I just wouldn't. That's a great pic.

Ditto.
Great picture.
White squirrels are almost as common as their gray cousins here in our county, Brevard, Transylvania Co. NC. They were brought in many years ago and their population has grown over the years and they are kind of a mascot here. Ours are true white squirrels and not albinos.
