I am going through some tough times in my life. My bower is almost done with my bow. I am going to have a verse put on the front. I am looking for one that will remind me to stay strong something that can comfort for me. Will you guys share your favorite please?
Thanks Robert
Matt 11:28. God bless.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding
Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Isaiah 43:2
you guys are great, please keep them coming. it might sound strange but I find it comforting in ready what you have suggested...
Not mine, but a quote I see Doc Nock use often which I really like "Keep the Son in your eyes".
YB
Here's a good one for a bowhunter.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105)
Ask for His help my brother and then expect it.
I had the Black Widow boys laser etch Psalm 18:32-34 and the verse content on the back of my latest set of PSA limbs! Although the limbs aren't bronze, they are covered with copperhead skins! God bless!
Robert....I find my self looking up all these Bible verses, I feel better too! Praise God!
Probably my favorite, Proverbs 19:21. Helped me more than a few times when I don't understand why certain things are happening to me or my loved ones. Not archery related, but life related.
"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21 NIV
Phillippians 4:13-I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (KJV)
Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God!"
Sometimes you just need to recognize He is in charge and quit trying to take control of everything on your own! It is when we are "still" that we can see God's hand in our lives. Love this verse!!
I don't know your heart but one of my favorites is Joshua 24:15.
Amen to ALL of the Verses and Scripture!!
Psalms 144: 1-2
Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
rluttrell,
I have taken comfort in the following verse. It has silently sustained me through some very trying times ... even a 32 day solo wilderness canoe trip in northern Canada where I hurt my self and was laid up stranded for 2 weeks before I could travel again.
"Shout joyfully to the Lord, how awesome are your works! "
I forget which psalm it is exactly, but I can find it for you if you like.
I like this because it is not jsut about his beautiful creation. This verse simply says to me - be thankful for all the Lord has blessed us with. Personally, it has given me perspective when I needed it.
Good luck to you.
Bob. :)
Well, prety much all I was going to recommend has been suggested. Another good one is John 14:13-14. It was this verse I put on my longbow to remind me that the Lord is true to his word if our inent is pure, in his will, and used to glorify the father. Keep the faith brother. God Bless
MATTHEW 19:26
King James Version (KJV)
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Genisis 27:3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;
I'm getting GEN 27:3 written on my bob lee that JJ will be building me in the comin months. I love the verse.
Eph 6:10. "Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand firm against the schemes of the devil."
James 1:2-3 "Consider it pure joy my brothers, when faced with trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverence."
My signature: Mth 16:24-27 "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself, take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his own life will loose it. But whoever looses his life for me, will find it. For what good is it for man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul. I tell you, the Son of Man is coming in His Father's glory and with the angels, and he will reward each person according to what they have done."
"There once was a man from Nantucket . . ."
"Go to heaven for the climate, hell for the company". Mark Twain
"No door is closed with out a window being opened".
Job 15:13
Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him
Job 19:25,26
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
I gain strength in this.
God Bless,
Nathan
Well my idea is a little different than what normal verses are but I figured i'd post anyway. What I write on some of my bows to me holds true in any part of life.
PICK A SPOT.
HOLD FORM.
FOLLOW THRU.
Three things we must do to execute a good shot with a bow and arrow but for me pick a spot is also what I do when starting any endevor to hopefully get the desired results.
Hold form, if I short draw or don't have solid anchor the shot will not hit as desired. To me the same with anything I'm trying to accomplish I must hold form through the project or situation to reach my goal.
And follow thru, bow arm steady till impact and a crisp release makes sure the arrow will go to the spot. Same with life or any endevor I must follow thru to the end. In buiseness that might be a follow up phone call to a transaction earlier that day or week. In the case of my wife who is fighting leukemia that might be thanking the Lord for getting us through a tough day or treatment giving us the strenth to deal with what was given to us.
Sorry for the long winded post just one of the ways I use archery qoutes and terms for just about everything because well, I just plain love archery. Dave
Romans 8:35-39, "Nothing can seperate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus!" :notworthy:
Isaiah 40:31 Great verse, although you made need a long bow, pardon the pun! LOL
His invitation- "Come Unto Me" Matt 11:28
Everythings gonna work out-"All Things Work Together For Good" Rom 8:28
Thank you guys
I think my next bow will be named "Charon".
Proverbs 3:5 is excellent, but do not fail to see the importance of following through to verse 6........in all your ways acknowledge Him..........if we do this, He wii make our path more obvious....
Great thread.

Better inlay a coin in the riser - just in case. ;-)
Jeremiah 6 : 16
"Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see and ask for the OLD PATHS (traditional)where is the good way and walk therein and ye shall find rest for your souls"
Traditional archery, traditional ways of hunting, caring for the next hunter as much as yourself, passing on the tradition, the peace of doing things simple and following God's path thru life...........there is rest for the soul.

I have ( One Lord, One Faith, one Baptism ) on a few of mine.
Makes a Scriptural statement.
Isaiah 41:10
Check out Zephanaiah 3:17

Psalm 19:14: "May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer."
Rick
I was thinking of Matt 11:28-30 like Stujay. Pulled me through some tough times. You believers are awesome.
When I am on stand, shivering, and the light creeps in to remind me that daytime approaches, I sometimes take in a bit of a glow with, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, whence cometh my strength."
I am not a follower of religions, but will take others' inspirations and run with it. It is all about returning love to a loving God.

Great thread. A lot of inspiration comes form these verses.
Jeff.
As stated earlier proverbs 3:5&6. We always want to make things better or ok all by ourselves. But we can't. But The Lord can and will.
