Been shooting with a glove and been thinking about a tab. Who shoots 3 under with a tab and which one do you use? What do you like better about the tab?
Bucky, I shoot a Bateman 3 under Cordovan tab. I had a calf hair tab for years, but think the Cordovan gives a very smooth release and will last a LOT longer. I used a glove for a while and started having some nerve issues in my middle finger so switched back to a tab. I get a little better release with a tab too but many folks do very well with a glove. Give one a good try. Ya might like it :-)
Which sponsor sells the Bateman?
Bateman for me  BlackWidow makes a good one. I think you get a much cleaner release with a tab.
Love my bateman 3 under.
I shot and love my Toelke tab! Dan Toelke makes them
3Rivers sells them & E W Bateman & Co.
I have gotten the best release and now always use a Cavalier cordovan with the medal palm.
Black Widow, Eagles Flight, both Cordovan!
I use a Cavalier Left Handed Tab. Works Great! I am Right Handed so the Leather is going the Right direction.
I switched from a glove to a tab last spring. One of the best changes I've made.
I shoot the Black Widow tab and have zero complaints.
Rocky mountain specialty gear sells Bateman tabs
If I use a medium glove will I use the same size tab? Did You find it easy to go from glove to tab?
I'm another fan of the EW Bateman, I have 2 new ones in my tackle box plus the one I shoot...PR
blackwidow 3 under with calf hair.
Shakes,
I don't get it? Can you enlighten me on the right handed/left hand tab and "leather going the right way"?
Rob
I also use the Cavalier Elite without the spacer or the thumb-rest. I buy medium grip bows but the small Cav fits me better than the medium. This rest was designed by Jay Bars, one of our Olympic archers. I love the way the string sits against the metal palm piece.
I've been using this brand tab for a little over a year. I was using a glove before that but have tried other "soft" tabs. They were ok and certainly more economical but these soft tabs didn't promote a relaxed draw hand and consistent string placement like the Cavalier does. If they (Cavalier's) are good enough for the Olympics then they are perfect for my hunting!
My only "complaint" is that I have to be careful when handling the bow in the tab hand (moving the bow around on stand or puttint it on a hook) to prevent scratching the bow.
I was actually looking at another similar style rest yesterday designed by the current Olympic coach - Saw it and many others on another retailer's site.
I shoot 3-under.
I have to put in a plug for Eagle's Flight Archery when it comes to 3 under tabs!
I picked one up last year and couldn't have been more impressed with the fit and finish of the product. The o-ring retainer is miles better than just sticking your finger through a hole, and the leather palm plate makes for an great index for ensuring consistent hand placement from shot to shot.
Look them up if you have the time, I haven't found a better shooting tab out there!
I like the black widow tabs.
I've been shooting 3-under for about almost 50 years...damn time flys. Anyway, I use split-finger tabs, as I never like the three under tabs. For the last ten years or so, I've used the "Bateman Cordovan Face Tab with Divider" and I remove the divider.
I like the look of the eagles flight one.
I make my own - real easy. Used a Bateman for a pattern and modified from there. Eagles Flight is a good one too.
When some of you switched from a glove was it real hard to get used to?
Bateman here too.
Bateman tabs are the best , order directly from them and they will not break the bank in shipping .
I love the EFA cordovan.
I really like my Cavalier tab, but shooting 3 under my fingers bunch up a bit sometimes and my middle finger gets "stung" between the finger split. I wish they made a 3 under tab!
I just bought a Black widow which is okay, but I don't like it as well as the Cordovon. I replaced the finger stall with the Cavalier cord lock, which makes it much better.
I still need to try the Bateman and EFA tabs. . .
I shoot 3 under and use a Fred Eichler split finger tab.
I used to shoot a glove, and a tab took some getting used to for me, but I like it much better especially for hunting. I can use my hands with it on, and it's just quicker to get on the string without thinking about it. I also believe I'm less likely to torque the string using a tab because it's much easier to tell when I'm torquing it.
I am shooting a Bateman TC3 Three Finger Under Tab. It has fixed my nock high issue by making my fingers act as one. I was using a glove but I'm much better now...
