Title: Moab shooters
Post by: BDann on October 17, 2012, 06:57:00 PM
I've got a new to me MOAB on the way and would like some help with putting some arrows together for it.  It's 53@ 28, and I'll be drawing around 30.5"-31".  I'm not sure on the distance from center, so stu's calculator is giving me a pretty wide range of numbers.  I'd like to be in the 10gpp range if possible, and would be open to woodies and carbons both.

With my other moab I was right on the line between GT trads 35/55 and the 55/75, so I went with the stiffer ones.  That bow is 48@30.

BDann, I shot Heritage 250's off it with 175 grains up front. I draw 30 and they bare shafted fine.   BILL

I have a 54# MOAB  and draw just under 28". I shoot either:
30" Gold Tip 35-55 Trads, w/ 100gr. insert and 150 gr. broadhead  (535 total weight)       or
29"  CX Heritage 150's w/ 100 gr. insert and 150 gr. head.( 570 total weight)  (30" work for me here too....29" is just what I have now..)

I think your going to need 5575 with around 260-300 up front.

i use 5575s with 315gr up front from my stotler 72# at my draw and they fly well.

its cut a bit before centre, maybe 1/4"

the owner of the archery shop i visit shoots a tred barta 70# longbow and a predator phoenix and uses 3555s cut to 29" with 275gr up front and even those fly great.

Stus calculator says all of these arrows are wildly underspined but the reality says they fly well.

Mine is 55#@29" and CX Heritage 250s cut to 30" with 150 up front are perfect.

Brian, I've got to agree with Terry. I shoot 3 bows between 48 to 58 lbs and use the same trad lite arrows out of all three. Great arrow flight. The lites work better for me because of my 27 in draw length but you would want the A.D. trads. Put frustrating arrow to bow tuning behind you. They really are that easy to tune to a wide range of poundage and rest depths.

Couldn't agree more with Terry.  AD's will save you lots of headache medication money!

The AD Trads were a great call.  They shoot fantastic out of the heavier bow with 175 up front.  In fact, both bows pretty much shoot the same with them. Pretty cool.

I can alternate shots with them and get the same results.  I must say that Jim makes a great bow.
