Got a brand new Thunderchild in the mail today and could not resist taking it to the woods for my evening hunt. After admiring Jim's workmanship for a while, I put some arrows through her. Just like my other thunderchild, this one tuned right up with little fuss. I also got a pack of the new Cliff Zwickey 175 broadheads today. They flew great and after an evening of shooting the combo could not wait to get in the woods to see if this bow had a bloody spirit . It is a 56 incher as opposed to my old reliable 58 incher, and is a few pounds lighter. I got to the swamp late and settled into a hide near an oak that was raining acorns. It looked like a roto tiller had been under that tree from all the hog rooting. No deer showed, but a little before dark I heard a terrible rackett and soon a wave of hogs ranging from tiny piglets to several large adults descended on me. I immediately picked a big sow out and waited for her to work into position. Sadly, it was never to be as the wind betrayed me and they suddenly flushed out of there like a covey of quail exploding in all directions. I had only a few short moments to bask in self pity for the missed opportunity before a coyote came trotting up like he owned the place. He stopped about 20 yards away and seemed focused on the Hogs, which could still be heard in the distance. I think he was planning on a pork supper. What he was not planning on was the politically incorrect redneck with a longbow hiding the bushes! He took the arrow quartering to the front and passed on to the great gutpile in the sky right where he stood. I still have not seen the arrow. It was speeding through a thicket the last I heard from it. A very pleasing evening indeed! (http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc447/swinestalker1/IMG_0651.jpg)

Awesome stuff and great looking bow! Jim is a true craftsman. If he ever makes a three piece curve I'll get one.
That bow is a beauty.. Congrats on the coyote
Congrats on the bow and the yote.
what a cool experience. Any time you can get an arrow in a prairie poodle is a one of a kind memory. Beautiul bow. What poundage is that TC. sounds like it put a nice hole in that song dog!!!
Thanks guys. Yornoc and Rastaman, I have him in the freezer and may well look into having a quiver made from his hide. Thanks for the tip! Awbowman, your in box is full and I could not respond to your question, however, having a near 30 inch draw, there is no way to compare apples to apples. I would Talk to Jim about your question. He can tell you more or maybe design the force curve to get the most from your draw length. As I was typing this, it inspired me to grab my chrono. My new TC which is 52 or 53 pounds at my 29.75 actual draw shot a 560 grain arrow 171fps all three times. I love consistancy!
Just cleaned it out SwineStalker
