Title: Hot Glue
Post by: Recurve50LBS on August 13, 2007, 01:34:00 PM
I got a new hight temp hot glue gun this past fathers day and was wondering if this glue would work fine for glueing inserts into aluminum shafts?
Being a fireman you can understand I'm not crazy about using a torch.
Thank you

I never had much luck with the glue gun deal.  I use Ferelle Tite and an alcohol burner to set my points.

I just use a lighter to heat the ferr-l-tite instead of a torch. I put it on the tip of the taper and then reheat and add the point. (not enough hands to do it all at once) takes a little longer but it works

Recurve,3rivers archery sells long glue sticks that should fit in the glue gun.And these glue sticks are for installing heads and nocks.Just be sure to clean your field points and broadheads in Acetone before glueing them up.tradrick

Frankly, I've never had much luck getting the clear "hobby" type glue sticks to hold. I think it was Paul Brunner who said that if it isn't brown don't use it... good rule of thumb.
