Title: Longer limbs question?
Post by: Manitoba Stickflinger on October 13, 2012, 01:05:00 PM
Just wonderin' if you are to take say...#50 pound limbs off of a 14" riser and put them on a 16" riser....what happens weight wise? Are those #50 limbs now heavier or lighter and by how much? Thanks!

Depends on the limbs and the riser.  Are these ILF bows?  IF so there should be about a 2# loss going to the longer riser.  If not, it's a crap shoot and I suggest you call the bowyer.

Thanks Mike! They are not ILF but bows from the same bowyer and limbs can be swapped.

I agree with Mike in that it can vary somewhat.  That being said, I've owned two TD recurves and one TD hybrid with two different riser lengths, and the longer risers (usually two inches longer) all resulted in 2# less weight with the same limbs.
