As a few of you know, I have been "riding the bench" for several weeks. I sprained my shoulder about 8 weeks ago. It has been a very slow healing process. I had to miss the first week of bow season simply because I could not draw my bow. :banghead:
Within the past week, I have had major gains in my strength. I still am far from 100%, but I have been able to shoot about a dozen good arrows the past couple days, before my shoulder gives out. I decided it was time to go climb in my favorite stand overlooking a couple huge white oaks this morning.
It took exactly 1 hour, and this happened.....

I had already decided that I was only going to take a close shot if given the opportunity, and that is exactly what happened. This ol' girl gave me a perfect 10 yard shot. I shot her with my Black Widow PSAX, 47@27, Axis 500 and 125gr Thunderhead. It left a blood trail my 8 year old son could have followed. It's a shame he is out of town this weekend.

Nice doe! Glad your on the mend, I have dealt with a shoulder sprain before, no fun. Sprains seem to take forever to heal don't they.

Thanks guys! 4 weeks ago I was not able to draw my son's 20# recurve. It has been a slow (at least it seems slow) healing process. I knew if I took a shot this morning that it would have to be a close one. I guess it helps to get lucky once in a while!
How am I not surprised? :) Good shootin buddy!
Very nice Brother! Even with one wing you can shoot better than most of us. Deer beware!
Thanks TJ! I just realized that I have another tag that I can punch today. Time to get back after them!

Sorry Tim...I was driving home from hunting. I would have called, but I figured you were busy.
Nice shot! Are you as covered up with acorns as we are down here?
Marc, I'm glad most of the acorns fell a few weeks ago, or I would have needed to wear a hard hat in the stand!
I'm pretty fortunate that the farm I hunt has just a few white oaks on it, so when they produce it's usually very good hunting. Some guys have land that is covered with white oaks. They have a hard time seeing deer in years like this because the deer don't have to move much to fund food.
Congrats she's a good looking girl!! Good luck with the shoulder.
We have a lot of white oaks on our land and the corn has been cut on the neighboring farms, its added up to plenty of deer up on our mountain. I blew a chip shot on nice buck last Saturday and passed on a small buck yesterday. Its been a very good season just 2 weeks in, even without a kill.
Good going man. God Bless
Well Done, congrats!

That's the way to do it Allen!!
:clapper:
Way to go Allen!
See you Friday night at the Cool Springs camp sight!!!
Congrats again Allen... Did you get the clicker to go off? See you soon. Jeff
No clicker on this one Jeff. She was 10 yards....grip it and rip it!
Seriously though, my strength is still a good bit off. I still have some work to do.
