They're trying something different this year in Arkansas. Several days of doe only modern gun hunt start the year's hunt. I have other obligations this morning, but I just got this in a text message from TG member Chris Montgomery (akaboomer). He got these with his Roy Hall recurve. He'll be busy for a little while, so I thought I'd share. Maybe he'll chime in when he gets time. Congratulations Chris!

Doe harvest is needed for a healthy herd. JUST HOPE they don't knock the herd down to nothing like they did here in PA.
Whack 'em and stack 'em......
Good shootin' there. :clapper:
Indiana is trying something similar but atleast they put it at the end of the year.
A double nice! Good shooting!
Thanks Lin, I rarely get the perfect conditions to hunt this spot. It's in a saddle on a ridge that thermal winds and wind direction are tricky. Forecast was looking good and a quick check from just above the stand location told me its on.
I decided if a nice buck or a tender doe gave me the chance I was getting groceries. I saw a total of seven deer, first was a button buck with a three point. Then they kept coming, shot the first one at 7:31. The Magnus 125 took her heart out. 23 minutes later the other one got a Magnus through both lungs.
This is the only stand I have doubled on, today was the second time. Thanks for the comments guys.
Chris
Good Shoot'n!

We have a pretty liberal doe limit in Michigan - at least in southern MI. The upper peninsula has far fewer deer and they aren't as liberal with the permits.
I hear a lot of hunters complain that the herds have been depleted, but you can't go 5 miles in southwestern MI without seeing a road-kill doe. I haven't seen a lot of deer this year, but the sign is all over. I think we have created some very nocturnal deer. The only pictures I've gotten on trail cams have been night time shots.
That will change with the bucks pushing the does around.
Good Job Chris, on a double. I bet not to many folks have got a double with a recurve. Your in the elite double club!
Congratulations! Lots of good eating for the winter! :clapper:
