I'm wanting to make some wool pants similar to the stormy kromer bunkhouse pants. I have my pattern but I'm at a road block. I have no idea what fabric to use. What weight, and texture, and where to purchase? Any help is appreciated!!!
Look up Bemidji woolen Mills, that should get you going again.
Looks like they are 24 oz, 80/20 wool. You'll spend $30+ a yard for good wool. I'd be interested in your pattern. Did you find it somewhere or develop it yourself?
Bemidji also has 100% in 20 oz and 30oz wieghts.
John, search simplicity patterns #4760. I believe they are similar to bunkhouse pants. Pattern is cheap and my mother is retired and looking for something to fill her time. She's one heck of a seamstress when she wants to be.
I will. I took a sewing class with my daughter once. It was called "Mommy and Me". I broke the mold. I made a shop apron that I still use all the time. Thanks. Now I have a winter project. I mean another winter project.
if you do it think about doing some bibs...i need a pair in a bad way. Froze my butt off last winter in some very cold extremely windy temps chasing caribou. we were talking wool today while out chasing grouse. the rivers are freezing up, buddies beards were froze up pretty good too. Scared the local grouse population a little and had a great hike and camp fire catching up with old buddies. Those bibs are needed in the near future LOL!
Johnson Woolen Mills has a pretty good selection too.
