I layed my empty right wing helical clamp in the jig,on an unfletched arrow. The only part of the clamp that makes good contact with the shaft are the far ends of the clamp. Can someone check theirs and tell me if it is the same? Thanks Rich..
Select clamps on my ancient model do that. I put paper clips ,the heavy ones ,on the clamp to hold the fletch parallel to the shaft. That has resolved that gap problem
My Jo-Jan helical clamps do that. The straight not as much.

HUh/.paper clips where? pics of this?

Yes I am talking Helical,,so what do you do to remedy this?
Never been a problem! I leave the fletch out of clamp 1/8" then dry fit as I adjust front and rear adjustments to insure full contact.

Seems silly to have to do that,,is this required on that Bitzenburger jig I have heard so much about?
I do it on my bitz too
Those alligator clips with a black body and two wire arms. No good at pics, yet.
This has worked for that jig for 30 years

where do you put the clips?
Any fletching jig is going to need adjustment from one shaft diameter to another. Well except maybe the AZ Easy.
Never had a problem with the JoJan, and been using one for almost 30 years.
As mentioned above - adjust & dry fit until it all looks good, then get after it.

My question is ,did they design it to be used in this manner? dry fit it,1/8in out of the clamp and then glue? I wouldn`t think JoJan intended it to be used that way.
Is yours the multi-fletcher or single? What length fletch are you using?Did you adjust it to fit that diameter shaft?

I am using the multi,,what adjustment for diameter is there? none that I know of.
Scattergun, there is an adjustment both fore & aft of the clamp brackets.
Unfortunately the multi has only one adjustment each side, which changes all six slots at the same time. It makes it a little more difficult to get all 6 aligned properly, but it is doable, and once adjusted properly, the fletchings should all set down flat, and make good contact end to end. No gaps.

Of course there is.You need to put a shaft in the jig and a fletch in the clamp with no glue and adjust till you have good contact. The nock index bar adjusts all 6 at once. There's more.If you have the instructions you should read them over or check them out on their website-or call them.

You never said what length fletch?

I know about the bar adjustment..I just cant seem to get it to where everything lays right. I am using 5" parabolics.
I have both the 6 fletch multifletcher and the single fletch JOJAN.some times I use tape and sometimes I use glue;but this 70 year old does not get in a rush to get stuff done anymore---so mostly I use the single fletch because I enjoy doing the fletching, and find it relaxing.
No problem with any adjustments.
I use a JoJan and all mine lay perfectly on the shaft. Like BoDiddle said above, you have to loosen the screws on the frame of the jig and adjust it to where it is correct.
Bisch
I put them on theclamp. Most of the time one is enough tp hold the fletching parallel tothe shaft.
I have no problem with mine. Do you number your clamps so they always go to the same spot. I do 11/32 woods and then Easton Axis which I think are 5/16 they lay perfect.
I use the JJ multi too. Once adjusted get full contact front to back but I also dry fit them before gluing. It's one more step but worth it to me.
I've had my multi-fletcher since the late 1960's and never had any kind of problem such as is being described here. In fact, I've never had any kind of problem with mind, and hope you get it figured out soon.
Loosen the wing nuts on each end. Lay the arrow in a slot and put a clamp without a feather on top of the arrow.
Now move the whole jig right or left and see how the clamp starts to lay flat. Keep moving until you see the clamp at its flatest position on the arrow then tighten the wing nuts.
Do this for each type of arrow, wood, aluminum or carbon
What Canyon said!!
Just to,add to your data base.
I just checked my JOJAN multi.
With a bare shaft and bare clap it sits tight against, the, shaft.
I adjusted mine years ago for the left and right shift with the, bars top and bottom. Top is,just off center to the left bottom almost middle of slot.
I fletch 1/4 inch to 11/32 and carbons, etc without any adjustment.
I checked my clamps on a,straight edge and they are mostly straight .
These are right helical clamps.
