We visited about archery and bowhunting a bit and then about Northern Mist bows.. For now I have one of his string follow Sheltons. I have found it to be a really sweet shooter.
Our deer season opened on the 29th of September and I've hunted several times.. Since the opener I've been very fortunate to have seen a number of deer but it's just too early to use up my only buck tag so I'm waiting and watching.. I've enjoyed tag soup in the past waiting and watching !!!
This evening I had a couple of does and a nubbin buck under for a bit when they all became alert to something in the woods behind my treestand. In a moment they hurried off and I could hear animals coming from behind. I knew what was in the cards and readied my bow.
In less than a minute a few sows and shoats came drifting under my tree. I was surprised they didn't pick up my scent as the often do.. They just kept moving out in front of me and I picked a spot on one of the small sows and released the arrow. The range was short, less than 15 yards, and the arrow hit where I was aiming and exited just in front of the off shoulder. After waiting a few minutes I got down and picked up the blood trail which was more than adequate. After 75 or 80 yards I found her piled up. Pork chops !
The Shelton is 53lbs at my draw length and the 2016 was tipped with 170 grain Grizzlies. Seems like a deadly combo !

Nice mate and well done !
The pigs round those parts must be talkin' bout ya in hushed tones ........
2016's with 160gn b'heads are my preferred everyday set up too ... heck we even use the same quiver !
I'd suggest that we've been cloned if i was a just a tad more handsome and right handed ... and killed as many hogs as you do !

Hey Pat, that Shelton is a heck of a bow and Steve is a great guy to talk with ... as long as you don't mind talk real early in the morning!
Boy, I do not know what hogs ever did to you, but man you sure seem to be getting even! You are a hog killing machine buddy!
Nice job!! :archer:
Bob.
Way to go Pat!
The next time you guys talk with Steve, ask him to tell you about the doe he shot with his Whisper last hunting season. It's a great story.
Nice hog, Pat. Gotta love those 2016s (I surely do).
Thanks for the photo and story.
