Does anybody use Berry's elk calls? If so any reviews?
i did years ago and had no problems with them
They look like the easiest calls for a beginner to master, after I get those down I will look to learn how to use reed calls etc.
I've used pretty much all of them. If you mean their reeds, then use the pink cross or double red for bugling. I don't like their tone for cow calls much on any of their reeds, they don't allow for a wide enough range of sound. But the Red double is very loud, a real screamer for bugling. Sometimes I can get response on only it, and nothing else. But if you try to cow call with it you'll sound like a cow that got stuck by a porcupine in the mouth. It makes one sound, and one sound only and thats a loud screaming wail. IT does that well. I carry one that I use occasionally for that purpose.
I personally dont think much of their external reed calls. All personal opinion! but, its what works for me.
I have always used Primos calls until I met a man by the name of Don Laubach this summer in Gardiner, MT. Do a search for ELK INC online. Don was awesome and spent alot of time with my 10 year old son and I. Give him a call if you get the chance and you won't regret it. One of the most knowledgable elk hunters I have ever met!
I should add his calls rock and we had better success calling in bulls this year with them than all my other years put together!
Elk inc are good calls. I haven't used the berry, but have heard good things about em. I mainly use diaphram calls, and prefer the ones with the dome on em. I order a lot through elknut or elk101.
