Went out to some pubic land yesterday morning.

Had a young 4 point come in behind me to about 5 yards and looks up at me and I never moved. He just stared up and then turned and went down wind till he got my wind and it was over, this is where he was looking up by the log. They sure learn fast.

Might want to resize your pics.
It's funny how you hear things like "deer don't look up". I couldn't count the number of times I've been busted by deer "looking up".
:o
Thanks, I just figured out the new photo bucket.
Yep, got bust twice opening week.

Yes, they surely do....as well as right, left, down, straight ahead and behind them. It's a wonder any of us ever kill one.
Pretty silly to think they don't. Big cats have preyed on them for millenium from above. It's instinctive for them to look up.
With that said, I remember when I first started hunting from trees (before treestands)and was amazed at how many more shots I started getting.
I do think there is an advantage being above... but they do look up.
They sure do. Last year I moved my ladder stand to a new location. I went back a few days later but forgot my harness. I sat about 5 yards from the stand in front of a tree. A spike horn shows up acting really spooky when he got to where I walked in. He looked right through me about 5 yards from him (I was in my Asbell wool pull-over) and kept looking up at the platform of my stand. He never knew I was there. He just kept looking above me at the stand. Of course I got busted when I started to draw.
Howard,
Can you explain your rubber band system to me? Kinda looks like when you draw that blue band will just fall off? If so, that is an great idea!
this is like me out in my stands here with deer around,, I know theres a deer there but I just cant freaken see it!
I have had them look up a bunch of times and not figure me out,, even wearing a T-shirt and jeans before the season.... I'm not sure but I think when I do any kind of calling they usually look up at me but if I'm sitting quiet and they just happen to come by they don't look up.
Seems to me the ole does look up more than any... But Ive been busted by all of em looking up. Bucks does fawns. Win some lose some! Good luck next time!
It is not that they don't look up, it is that they can't just move their eyes and see up, like we can. They have to move their head to look up.
I've all but quit hunting from a stand in my favorite spots because I've been busted so many times. Another place I used to hunt I had a buck look every direction except up--I was only 12' up. Shot him at about 8 yds.
some do some don't... go figure.
