Loaded a tent and a few possibles and headed to Horse Creek WMA for a couple of days. Got set up at the camp ground and took off looking for sign...

I roamed the swamps like a kid. Not a lot of pig sign but some and it really did`nt matter to me. Every time I hunt horseCreek its like coming home or something. Just feels good to loaf around with no place you gotta be at anytime of the day.
I did walk up on a lone boar that jumped up from some palmettos. He ran about 20 yards and turned broadside and I shot under`em. Doggone it!!!You know you having fun when you can miss and pic your arrow up and laugh and carry on.
Had a look at the River...aint she purty!!!!

No,he didnt make it.
Climbed on a hot lone white oak and made a long 7 yard shot on a young doe. She ran maybe 40 yards.

Good shooting!
A few questions for a deer and pig killing guru if you don't mind..
1. Was that from a climber or sticks and a hang-on?
2. How high do you climb in a lone tree like that?
3. Did you have a full leafy suit on in the tree or just the hat?
Thanks and God bless,
-Charlie
That was from a climber. I was maybe 14' high and I do not wear a leafy suit most of the time.I seldom climb higher than that. To much work, scary and no need.RC
Good stuff as usual RC. Been a long time since I did a camp hunt. Usually hunt and drive home.
To quote from the, " Bud Light " commercials....... " Here we Go !!!"
Look forward to RC's threads each year. He puts the hammer on the deer and hogs big time. I am sure we will have more to follow soon. Good shootin RC.... :notworthy:
You da man RC! Congrats
Good job! Thanks for sharing!
Good ol RC. Cool camp and hunt. I was loving it until you threw that rattler in there. Then I was glad it's 31 degrees in Ohio. :bigsmyl:
Excellent pics and story as always RC. I found out why you like your Mohawk so much. I just got a 2pc Sparrowhawk, Bocote with brown glass from Vince. It's a superior bow in every way. Vince obviously 'sighted' it in for me, I was shooting 2" groups out to 13 yards by the end of my first shooting session with her. I'll hopefully find out soon if she has some MOJO too.
Congrats!
thanks for taking us along!
Congrats on the deer. Looks like a good time.
Beautiful area...except for the snakes. Congrats on the doe!

If you don't like them, maybe just walk the opposite direction in the future as opposed to partaking in wanton behavior. This is a species on the decline anyway. If you planned to skin him up or fry him up, I wouldn't have said a word.
Nice job on the doe.
Congrats RC!
Congrats RC!! I love it!
