Title: summit open shot
Post by: Gregg S on October 06, 2012, 04:20:00 PM
Can someone with a summit open shot please measure the seat from the bottom of the V that goes against the tree to the end of the seat frame. I have a bushmaster that I really like, but, the side rails get in the way of my recurves bottom limb when trying to shoot directly to the left or right. I could set the seat lower but it is not as comfortable sitting that way. If the open shot is shorter then the bushmaster I may order just the top from Summit. Thanks.

Thanks Kwc. I did look on Summits site and you can buy the top for $150. It's hard to tell from the pics if the frame would still get in the way with the seat up though. I had a Loggy and there was nothing that your bow limb could hit so this is something new to watch out for. I like the Summit otherwise.

I have a open shot. I can get you a measurement when i get home. Ive hunted it for 3 years. The seat is perfect size and i have had zero issues shooting 64"-66" longbows

It is 15" from inside the V to the end of the seat and 19" from the outside of the V to the end of the seat.  I have not had any clearance issues with mine.  Good luck.

I use my Open shop top with my Bushmaster platform.  Works nicely.

Have you tried the net seat instead of the padded seat?

Actually I just got the net seat for it and I really like it. With the original foam seat I could not get it up all the way so that I could lean against the tree. With the net seat I can do that easily. The pad forced me to be farther out on the stand and I guess the rails didn't seem to get in the way. Now that I can put my back against the tree it seems like they are going to be a concern. I guess that I can work around it but it just adds one more thing to think about when I want all my focus on the spot and the shot.
