Title: kuiu attack pants?
Post by: RedShaft on October 04, 2012, 10:33:00 PM
I was looking are buying a pair of kuiu attack pants in plain brown for hunting. I have there wool, but wondered what the surface material is like on the attack pants is it soft and quiet type brushed surface or is it a hard surface?

Also any of you considering kuiu for base layers should not think twice, as the merio wool is great stuff.

I wear the Kuiu Attack pants in solid colors every day to work and hunt in both the solids and the Vias camo colors. The Major Brown color is my favorite. The pants are very quiet, tough, stretchy, soft (woven, not brushed), comfortable and durable, except for a tendency to snag some in heavy hook-thorns. I love the pants and have 7 pairs, including every color made. Don't hesitate to buy them. Another nice factor is that the pants do not tend to stay dirty in the field, and they wash up well.

I've got the Attack Pants.

If you're familiar with Patagonia stuff ... it kinda feels like that kind of material with 4 way stretch.  Not super soft, but not hard either.  Not a brushed type though.

It certainly softens after a little use and couple washes.  Not as quiet as a pair of fleece pants or something, but not as noisy as ripstop or hard denim.

That's about as best as I can explain it in words.  Hope that helps some ...

Yes very nice pants and they soften when washed and worn.  I do like the new verde camo.

I just ordered a pair of the olive attack pants so
I'll have to update you when they come in. I do have the softshell gloves which are the very best gloves I have ever used, just ordered a second pair as well. The softshell material on the gloves in harder like a typical softshell but it doesn't seem too loud.

My goal is to use the pants on longer big mountain days, and when I am still hunting in really nasty/snowy weather, noise may be less of an issue in either of those situations than if I was sitting in a ground blind on a still day, in which case I would wear quieter pants.

Amar said it well.  Great pants.  Plenty quiet.

I ordered a pair for my son today in their new camo color. I think they are pretty similar to the Sitka ascent pants that I have and love.

Bjorn....

I had a pair and sold them. My eval was that they fall between the Sitka Ascent (very light) and 90% (moderate) for fabric weight. The Guide series fabric is very close to the 90%. Nice pants.

I have a pair that I have put through the paces in the last two years of elk hunting. I love them for that type of hunting. They are tough and have great features.

For treestand deer hunting, for me they are too noisey, I have better choices.
