Tim sent me a 145 gn sample head a few weeks ago..........the finish is indeed very slick and the cutting rdge is shaving sharp and hunt ready! I ordered a dozen today.
These heads are the ticket for Hogs and other tough critters.

Are they also sharp from the package or was that just your sample?

Do the new ones have more of a tonto pointed tip vs. the one pictured?

Those are great heads, now better.A real important feature of those STOS is that the ferrules are very accurate and true.It makes them a breeze to mount up and get spinning true.Glad they are back.

Is the original model still available as well or are they no longer? New heads look great by the way. For me penetration was never an issue (shooting 75 to 85 #s) and when I buy them I get 4 or 5 doz at a time. I like the $26.00/6 price of originals just fine.

The ceramic coating is something else.  For reference it's similar to an Eclipse head's teflon coating, but yet even slicker still.  Amazing stuff.  Ashby found the Eclipe's teflon was good for an extra 12% penetration, I'd expect these heads to exceed that figure a bit.   :jumper:

Todd at STOS has worked very hard to keep the STOS all it's ever been and still move forward and he's hit one out of the park with Classic Ceramic.  The grind is excellent, as it's always been, pretty much at the touch up stage right out of the pack.  The head I send Bjorn was virgin and untouched.   :archer2:

Blackdog, the physical dimensions are the same.  They don't have a needle point but I wouldn't call it a tanto either, they are like the original STOS and the point is similar to Magnus' diamond tip if that helps.

Hunt it, the original STOS are still available and in stock.  The Ceramic Classic is a new addition to the STOS line up.

Never had a complaint with the normal STOS broadheads.  I'll pass on the froo-froo and hope they keep the cheaper plain heads.
