Hey guys, after the outcome of my recent poll on the magnus vs. Muzzy four blade broadheads I decided to give the Magnus' a try. But I was wondering if these broadheads are sharp enough right from the package for hunting whitetail or if I'll have to sharpen them before I start the season.
I know that the two blades are. I've never bought any 4-blades.I touch them up a bit though, they are a little rough.
my last pack of 160grn snuffers was, I shaved my hair with them on my arm just to make sure. I think I got one that wasn't but that was years a go.
A tip... never trust ANY broadhead to be hunting sharp right out of the package.
Even with the best things can happen...what if the one broadhead that got missed the day the grinder broke at the factory was the one that came out of your quiver when the biggest buck of your life walked up?
Magnus heads have one of the best grinds in the industry, but still require additional (minimal)honing before they go to the field.
OR Charlie maybe the pack was sharpened after lunch on a Friday. Anthing can happen Human Error I think they call it.
I NEVER hunt with a broadhead I haven't shot first. So I sharpen them ALL before hunting with them. I should add that occasionally a head gets through that wasn't heat treated properly or even at all. By hitting it with the file I can tell right away if it is to hard or to soft.
Magnus has one of the best grinds going for a traditional head, but they will still need to be touched up before hunting.
as far as im concerned i sharpen every new broadhed except for Silver Flames
Out of the package, a few touches with a file, and they are frightening sharp.
