It has been seven years of trying on public land to get a deer. I had been close, but messed it up too many times!
It is still hard to believe a 7 year journey is finished. Thank you to all here who played such a large part in my learing about traditional archery. This is certainly a great place to call my 2nd home!
Here is a pic of the doe and the squirrel. God bless you all.

Thats the way to PERCEVIER.
Awesome!! Congrats.
Congrats on your deer !
and please. . . don't use "old stands in oaks that were built by the old owner". Those things were notorious for falling down with us in them.

Charlie, sometimes it's even sweeter with the wait. What a great day! Congrats.
Way to go man! Congrats!
Thanks again fellas! I was slightly stunned when I actually watched the deer fall in sight. I asked myself, "Did that just happen?" I could hardly believe it after so long. A blessed day for sure.
That's awesome!
Congrats on your first Trad kills. My Dad always says "if old permanent stands could talk." We've hunted old stands but always repaired or replaced the platforms.

Way to go, Charlie! Congratulations! That should be a good warm up for November! lol
Kenny
Congrats!
Congrats! Its a great feeling aint it!
I should note that the stand was repaired last year by another guy that hunts with a crossbow. Since he doesn't need any limb clearance vertically, he kept the stand in the original design when he replaced a few parts of it. He doesn't hunt there very often, but I sure don't know why. He told me to hunt it all I want. That is an excellent site with the apples and white oak in the same vicinity. If I can get a deer out of that stand with my 62 inch recurve then anything shorter would be super! I might be able to sneak inside the stand if I had a 48 inch bow. I'm not a huge fan of bows that short though. Nothing wrong with them, but I'm not a fan.
And yes, it feels like the weight of the world came off my shoulders. A great feeling!
That's awesome! :clapper: :archer2:
:clapper: Backstraps with a side dish of squirrel. Awesome reading about your success.
This is indeed...what traditional archery is all about.
The "weight of the world" being off your shoulders is a feeling you can put to rest forever.
Thank you for sharing this story... :campfire:
Many happy returns of the day!
