Title: Nock position for 4 fletch....
Post by: LookMomNoSights on September 30, 2012, 07:41:00 PM
How do you orientate your nocks for 4 fletch arrows?
Like fig 1 below?

Or figure 2 here
 (http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k636/beaglescout/photobucket-8244-1349038660959.jpg)
Both seem to fly well.....with the Fig 1 position,  that one fletch seems to ride well into the space between the plate and rest.  In Fig 2,  the fletch still rides along that space but the 4 fletchings make a perfect X in relation to the string and I believe there is more fletch contact on the rest and plate.   Like I mentioned,  both seem to fly real good, but wanted to see what everyone else thinks or what you may prefer......

I run mine like the first, but like you I've tried about everything and they all fly great.

I prefer mine like the second. It wont make a difference. Experiment like I did and see what suits you best. If your confident in it, that's all that counts.

I orient mine just like the first picture. Even with 3 fletch I orient the feathers so one of them goes in that gap between the rest and the side-plate. Mostly I shoot 4 fletch though.

Personally perfer Pic 1.

However, that choice may be driven primarily due to this cofiguration is more appealing and provides more peace of mind. Note: Either configuration will perform.

Yep mine are like your first one also. I would suggest you tie another nock underneath your arrow nock though unless your nocks are real tight on the string. Leave about a 1/16" gap over it and under your arrow nock when so it won't pinch at full draw. I get better arrow flight with them.

I just made mine like the first picture. But from my tests both seem to fly about the same. I might not be a good enough shot to notice the difference but like others said it helps my confidence because it seems like it makes more sense that way...
The hog I just shot didn't seem to notice the difference though.
