Hey Indiana residents! I am wanting to bowhunt a public area in Indiana this season. I was just getting ready to buy a tag online (procrastination) when I found there are two options. One is a regular non-resident archery tag for $150 and the other is a deer license bundle for $295? I see that the bundle allows three deer to be taken. But a non-resident can buy an additional doe tag for like $24 after buying the original $150 tag. Can anyone explain the bundle thing to me?
The bundle allows you to use those 3 tags during all of the seasons. Archery, firearm, or muzzleloader.
Rob
Ok, thanks Rob. So that is not the way to go for me since I do not gun hunt if I am correct.
Wait, I am confused by Indiana regulations. My question is if I buy a regular non-resident archery tag is this tag either sex? If it is either sex and I shoot a doe first, will I be able to get another either sex tag to buck hunt or will I only be able to hunt another doe?
My understanding is a non resident tag is good for either at $150. A non resident bonus antlerless is another $150. Then $24 after that.
If you drop a doe with only a regular tag. Your going to be doe hunting the rest of the year. That is the way I read it. I have hunted here 20+ years and it still confuses me.
If thats the case you would be better off with the bundle.
Jon,
The bundle allows you to kill three deer with any weapon, only one of which may be a buck;for $295. If you buy regular archery tags it will cost you $324 to shoot three deer. You must purchase two regular archery tags at $150 each before you can buy the bonus antlerless permits for $24. You can shoot a doe first with a regular archery tag and use your second regular archery tag for a buck. The regular archery tags are either sex unless a buck is tagged first, then your other tag becomes antlerless only.
Thank you guys. Confusing to say the least! Guess I'll go with the bundle. Even though I do not hunt with guns and do not plan to kill three deer over there. Glad I heard it from you guys before I bought a regular tag, shot a doe, and then cheated myself out of buck hunting!
What public land are you planning on hunting?
