Title: Broadhead tuning?
Post by: 9 Shocks on September 30, 2012, 02:18:00 PM
When using glue on broadheads, specifically 2 blade heads, do you want to try and line up one of the edges/blades with your cock feather?  say i shoot cock vane out...would i want my broadhead to be parallel with the cock vane? or do i want it perpendicular?  Ive always shot my compound arrows vane up through a whisker biscuit and i would line my broadheads up so they were parrllel with the cock vane.

I normally line my broadheads up vertically.  Some guys like them horizontal. It doesn't matter as long as they are on straight, unless you have a problem with them in your sight picture one way or the other.

Ok me too.  This is my first year messing with glue on broadheads.  Always used screw ins in the past.  Thanks!

I have always placed my horizontial.  Here is my reasoning due to past experience.

The arrow is flexing horizonally as it is exiting the string.  If the blades are vertical they are in a sense working against the flex not cutting the air when placed vertical thus creating a situtition which inhibits the stabilation of the arrow flight.

Just my thoughts and experience.

I align my broadheads horizontially. The only reason is that I like them that way. I'm not sure it makes any difference as long as they are on straight.

It does not make any difference in terms of how your arrow will fly unless you are really out of tune. The main difference is what you prefer when you are looking at the arrow.

Makes no difference. I like mine horizontal. When using a 3 blade head I mount the third blade straight down.  I have found that having anything sticking up above my arrow shaft causes me to shoot low.

I agree with Knapper and for the same reason. Take the time to fine tune your arrows. You've spent countless hours practicing. A few more to tune your arrows is time well spent.

I'm in Knapper's camp, too.  I learned that with some arrows that were just a bit stiff.
