Guys what do you do when you recover a deer loaded with ticks, how do you get rid of them before you load the animal in your car and end up with a carload of blood thirsty, Lyme infected ticks.
I skin it and put the skin into a garbage bag. Then I quarter the rest of it and put it in a cooler. For you guys up north a meat bag would probably work in cool weather.
Strap it to the top and let the wind blow them off as the body cools. :D
Couple contractor size trash bags maybe?
almost all my deer are infested w ticks - but I have ad no troubles - meaning no ticks dumped in the yard as a result - and we have not had ticks jumping off into vehicles. I don't know why - but ticks dont jump like a flea when a carcass cools.
I do skin my deer same night at my gambrel - early season hides go into the gut bucket - driven 1 mile away - into coyote or vulture bellies within 24 hours.
we have moved 23 whitetails last 2 seasons inside small cars deer inside a galvanized tub with no problems

Capes - Tails split and cleaned - late season hides for tanning; I put into a trash bag - spray with permethrine or raid to kill everything - then salt or freeze
Long island is the worst for ticks...I stopped hunting there. Not that there arent ticks all over the deer I take from upstate NY..theres plenty but LI takes the cake. Last time put adeer into the back of the truck I lined the space with a tarp first..slid the whole thing out with the deer on it and it was loaded with ticks..now I just take the meat from the deer wherever it falls..Coyotes get the rest
I remove all meat from deer and have it on ice within an hour of taking animal. I do not transport a field dressed animal do it right where it falls. the carcass I pig or predator hunt on. Just pick the ticks of like you would your dog if you are saving the hide. I do my dog 2 or 3 times a week.
They say that all creatures in our environment have a place.
The only thing that I can think of is that mosquitoes and ticks were placed here as a curse to humans.
The gutless method and game bags would not only lighten the load but leave the ticks in the field.
Did I say something wrong about monkeys lice and ticks???
maybe i just think mine are infested - but it sounds like you guys have it worse ??
There are literally thousands on every deer we kill but the ticks look like they are sleep - not walking around or jumping off??
so far anyway<><

I've not seen a deer loaded with ticks like these guys are speaking of. I guess we are fortunate!
