A few questions:
What size are the quiver bushings on the Predator Classics?
What nock height are you guys using with these bows?
Feels like it needs a pretty stiff spine?...sound right?
Quiver bushings are 3/16" on mine.
I have the nock height set at 1/2" which is higher than on my other bows. Had to play around with the brace height, nock height and string silencer location to get cedar arrows spined 45-50 and cut 27 1/2" to fly right off the shelf with 125 gr Zwickey Eskimos.
My Predator is 50# @ 28" but my draw is probably about 26 1/2".
I have an original Darton Pittsley preditor pulling 50@28 and my brace is 7 7/8" my nock height stays pretty much the same and thats about 3/8's like on all my bows because I shot with a low elbow. previous arrow set-up was a 29" heritage 150 with 100grain inserts and 125grain points (or stock insert and 200gr points) 5 3/4 HB shields.. BUT since getting a SBD string the whole arrow set-up changed because the 150's where too weak.. so I went to 29" heritage 250's and 100gr insert and 125's and this bareshafted perfect to 20yds..
I never really checked but I think the quiver bushings are 10/32 same as Blackwidow because I use a blackwidow side mount quiver for my preditor and it went right on,, I would confirm this though because I could be totally wrong on that and my bow is I think 16yrs old.
All quiver bushings installed at the factory are 1/4-20 threads.
I also set my nocking at 1/2" high and BH around 7 1/2"
The new metal risers are braced at 6 3/4" per factory.
Thanks guys. I did some research and it appears the bushings are standard 1/4 20 threads
As for the brace, right now I'm at 7.5" with a 1/2' nock height.
The bow is reading 53.5# at my 29". I put a thicker strike plate on and it appears my arrow is right on center cut.
My current arrows are Easton ST Excel 400s cut to 30.5" with a standard 17~18 grain aluminum insert. I've tried point weight from 145 grains up to 250 grains.
The arrows fly really fast and it's sometimes hard to see, but I think I keep seeing a barrel roll...I'm a right handed shooter and the arrows appear to kick out left before returning to center. My accuracy is good, but the flight leaves a lot to be desired.
I'm wondering if I need to go to a stiffer spine, maybe 340s.
I shoot a Predator Hunter 60" 46@28 drawing 27 1/2 Braced at 7 3/4 ( you should try this made a big diffence for me in accuracy) nock is at 3/8th. I too find the bow likes stiffer arrows. I shoot 2016 Legacys cut to 29 1/2 inches. 125gr heads. I get very good flight. A few things to consider is nock tightness. My bow preforms best with nocks that fit tightly on string but release with a slight tap. I also noticed that my release makes a big difference. Bad release and I get some fish tailing. Good luck.
Congrats on your new bow Jeff!
Thanks Rob. It's fun to shoot.....much different than my longbows.
Since I got rained out this weekend from hunting,it was nice to have something to tinker with.
Nice bows
