Hey all, I just ran across an older Kodiak Special at a garage sale and was wondering what the price range on these bows would be. I'm really not sure what the year of the bow is, it's missing the coin, and I didn't think to copy down the serial #. Other than that it looks to be in pretty good shape, usual aging, no twists or cracks. 41# @ 28. The guy was asking $75.00 but I thought that was a bit high considering the lack of the coin.
Thanks in advance for the help,
Keith
Nothing?
Try doing a search in the Trad History/Collecting forum
My guess is that the bow is worth $100-$150 based on what little I know.
See if he'll take $50
I'm not a collector or an expert on Bear bows so no coin on the side would mean nothing to me but a Kodiak Special for $75 and in good shape would be in my bow room and out in the field.
buy it! You can get a coin but who cares. Any decent shootable bow is worth that and then some.

Is the riser large like a 70's target bow, like a smaller recurve 59-62 kodiak, or like a longbow? This will help with the age.
If its longbow like, its pre 1959. If like a smaller recurve handle, 59-62, if BIG, 63+.
These have a VAST value range. If its higher than 40#'s, its usually pre 59. Higher poundages become more rare as the bow models progressed to target bow status.
No big deal on the coin, you can find them.
If you can get a picture, I can tell you what it is if 59 on...I don't follow them before that.
Each year 59+ had its own riser wood, shape, etc.
Example, the 61 was awesome zebrawood. The 62 brazilian rosewood, etc.
Thanks for the input everyone, looks like I need to jump on this one. Dave, as soon as I get it I'll post some pics and see if you can help me identify it a little more.
