Had a good hunt this evening but before I get into that I want to tell you how my season has been...so far.
Started out hunting some of the hottest opening week sign I`ve seen. Chris Spikes and I hunted Big Hammock WMA the first few days of the season.I had three deer come into a persimmon tree in the deep swamp to late to shoot the first time in the tree and Chris saw a deer and heard pigs but no shots. The first 10 days of the season went about like that...
I have never had a problem with poisen ivy and have been in it a bunch. First week of the seaon I got ate up with it. I know how a dog feels with the mange now.Just a fair warning for you though...if you get the stuff and happen to scratch certain spots on you..it ain`t good.Lets just say calimine lotion will set your marbles on fire!
I started this week hunting with most of the scratching over ...Climbed on another persimmon tree that was dropping good and showed good sign. An hour before dark a racked buck was coming and at about 30 yards winded me and left. The next morning a doe comes by and does the same.I hunt a crossing yesterday and two deer come by to late to shoot but at least I`m itch free now.
Today I head over to a beautiful bottom I`ve not hunted in a few years. I know where two Persimmon trees are in it and Chris had already checked them and told me they were dropping.Good to have young fellers scout for you....
A few pics for a start...

Nice Job Robert!
I know what you mean about the poison ivy...this year was the first time in probably 20 years I actually had a breakout.
Robert,
I couldn't help but smile when I seen this thread.I knew you would kill before long..
If the past years were any indication, this post will be the first of many! Nice job.
She ought to be pretty fine table fare !
Bet you'll look for the ivy before you go to climbing any more 'simmon trees...
If you'll soak those marbles in some clorox ----.
Thats some tender vittles right there. :clapper:
nice going!
That's a right-fine start!
Nice one!
Way to go. Real cool area nothing like it out here.Keep after them.
RC, I've been looking forward to an update from you. There's nothing like being itch free and having fresh back straps! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the pictures and hunt with us.
Way to go Robert, Looking good for venison backstrap
Nice job RC.
Way to go! BTW hunting in the nude leads to poison ivy in the tender places, you should not do that!
Good Shoot'n!

Unfortunately, the marbles need scratching regardless the situation. Luckily, most things pass..
Nice work, RC. No doubt with the "ice broken", there'll be more tales to tell.
Good job RC!
Somethings up with the poison ivy this year. I got tore up a couple of months ago for the first time in a looong time too.
Way to go RC!
I too, used to be able to wade through poison ivy like it was not even there. Then one time while at work, we made a grass fire in a field that had a lot of poison ivy in it. That day i got it so bad I had to take off sick the next shift. Now, if I just look real hard at the stuff I start to break out.
Congrats on the icebreaker, RC!

Great job, RC. A slow start for you, maybe. But I am guessing you will even things out in no time. Glad the itching is mostly over. Wish I couldn't say that I've done the same thing.
Congrats Robert!
Bisch, almost the same for me. A burn fire with a bunch of Poison ivy in it turned me into a wreck. Never got it before that. Dang near got admitted that next day. Now it happens every time I look at it. Hate that stuff.
