I see some fairly good grade binoculars that are now offering HD versions of essentially the same set of binos. The only difference being the HD glass/coating, as far as I can tell. My question is:
Is there an appreciable diference in the two sets in hunting situations?
If you have tried both, I would like your opinion before I spend a couple hundred extra for something that may not be noticable. Thanks, Lin

I recently bought a pair of Swarovski 10 X 40 SLC HD's after lengthy comparison shopping of similar brands and styles before putting down a sizable chunk of change on this particular pair.
At least to my eyes I do find a difference.
After the last weeks hunting in the mountains I'm very satisfied with my choice. Animals seem to pop right out from the background. I think my son in law grew tired of me constantly saying look there's and elk or a deer or a mountain goat. They haven't yet however put me in a position to shoot anything. But that's another story.
;)
Lin,
I use only Swarovski's and believe me the new coating is well worth the extra $$ it really shines in low light conditions. If you are looking at something other than Swarovski in same $$ range - go Swarovski they stand behind their product 250% way better customer service than the other top $$ guys. PM me if you want me to tell you several stories of how they looked after friends of mine and myself.
Usually, other than the price, you won't see the difference until those last (or first) moments of light. I would imagine you'll have less eye strain at the end of the day as well. Know your budget and buy the best glass you can afford.
