Some of you may remember Jake's Christmas photo: (http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r603/DonEggleston/Copy2ofJakesnewbow004.jpg) This was his reaction seeing his new Kaliska from Mike at Maddog Archery. Since then, he has become scary proficient with it and loves this recurve. After corresponding with Dave Conroy (Yornoc), someone who clearly new how to do snakeskins after searching this site, we agreed to get the limbs snaked with Bull snake
skins. That was shortly before Dave experienced a work accident that set him back, but not down for good!
After some time for healing, being the trooper he obviously is, he contacted me and said he was feeling well enough to start Jake's bow. We sent it in and waited with extreme excitement to see these skins.
I got a call from Dave and he said that unfortunately, the skins went milky and he was not happy with the bow and would not send it out in its current condition. Here is where things get cool. Dave said he understood Jake was looking forward to hunting with the bow and it would be a little while before he could get the new bull snake skins. He said he had a pair of copperheads (much more expensive then bulls) and would put them on with no extra expense, plus he would pay shipping back to us for the delay. Dave even offered to ship a similar size recurve to us to use while we waited! :bigsmyl:

Looks great!
Cool!
I'm guessing Jake's a more than just happy camper. That grin says it all. One more example of what great and generous craftsmen we have on this site!
Beautiful! Looks like Dave has passed his skills and knowledge to his sons!
YORNOC is certainly a class act. Congrats on your gifts and skins.
Awesome on all accounts!!

Mike, I am glad you saw this thread. Jake LOVES his Kaliska, especially after Dave and his boys spruced it up! You are both excellent at your crafts and real gentlemen. I hope to get some hero shots of him with his first trad kill, it's going to be an awesome fall!
Must have got a little quick with the trigger :knothead:
