I had setup on a water hole on the 18th. Lots of tracks around it and with the temps in the mid to upper 80's, and as dry as it was, I knew the deer would visit it sometime during daylight. It was right at dark when I see a huge midwestern doe followed by another and a yearling. They drank on the far end way out of recurve range about 40 yards. I waited till, I was sure they were gone before climbing down after dark. The next afternoon the wind had switched out of the north so I set my stand up on the other side where they were the day before. Wouldn't you know it a doe and twin button bucks come out on the side I was on and passed right in front of my previous set...
They came along the pond edge and ended up right under my stand sniffing the stick ladder. The twins came out front but the big doe circled down wind. I thought I was done. Apparently my scent lock worked because she never spooked and worked her way around in front of me to get her last drink...

scouted a new area this morning. Found good sign right away. Hung a couple stands and went got cleaned up and headed for the stand. It was about 30 minutes before last light and my buddy texted me and said there ain't no deer here, just coons coming down these trails lol
I said hang tight I know there are deer here!
Right at almost quoting time I hear something coming and think its just another coon. I look and see a doe and yearling but it's behind my tree where I can't shoot. They head out to the field without giving me a shot. Then here comes another. It walks up to my right and after sniffing where I had walked in, finally turned and gave me a shot. It was a perfect hit entering high behind the shoulder and exiting under the off side leg.

I went to Nebraska. Stopped in Kansas to check a trail cam and scout a little, then drove north to some new public land I had been looking at on Google for a year. EHD has hit that area pretty hard. I found 5 dead and heard from others that they had found many.
